  1. buy one thats done, have a calculate what you think it will cost then tripple it and you will come close to what its going to set you back, most workshops will charge at $70 to $100 an hour just for labour and some conversions might take a solid 100 hours, if its a sigma i'd go for cubes a mivec v6 from a pajero evo or a lexus v8, if its cheap you want go buick v6 and get ready for a flaming from all the haters
  2. depending on the direction you're going, there's a chaly frame and wheels set up here you can have, they're 3 piece so could possibly widen them, forks are ct110 spring over stanchion.
  3. blow by plumbed into chassis rails is the obvious answer
  4. g161 dizzy may not work can't remember, 200 block is a lot taller than 161, use the search function about half a doz of us have run g200 gemi's over the years, myself and a few others even ran the 200w twin cam from the piazza
  5. sounds like its dropped compression and its started to pick up oil from the sump to run on 5zx3qKX_Pno see here, only way to kill it is then starve it of air. td27 will run till the timing chain sounds like a machine gun and the rings are all but gone but get it working so it picks up its own oil and it'll take off like this, him stalling it saved it would have only got worse
  6. dana diffs are essentially very good, they are big heavy and strong, they like any other diff have a few inherant failings though, oil grade is important otherwise the will start howling quite quickly, seals are not shit but aren't brilliant for 4x4ing (most of the bad media comes from this). jeep liberty's carry the 30 diff which runs 27 spline axles in quite a narrow diff housing. i have a 30 spline detroit locker from a dana 40 sitting here.
  7. back to cert welding Q's, i currently run no tickets but can lay a strong clean weld would i have probs doing the bulk of the panel welding myself, pushing firewall back 100mm mainly. also regs for sub frame connectors any or just there for my piece of mind
  8. rover v8 replaced with buick v6 replaced with chev v8, the cycle of horrid continues, still have v6 in ute with blower motor in the build, what carb you running andy? i'm contemplating staying with injection
  9. shot andrew some v6 faith was needed around here
  10. bought engine lined up with x member, factory cast manifolds unfortunately not an option, will drag parts car out tomorrow for drive way mount session http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/840/sdc12151u.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/59/sdc12152q.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/534/sdc12153x.jpg/
  11. i have some brand new 195 50 15 tyres you can borrow if you want to run it through cert on someone elses wheels
  12. thread revival, getting married so car has to be alive by april next year so bought an engine, and now the fun begins
  13. ok out with the rover and bye bye to the buick v6, i've put the deposit down and pick up a 99 chev lm7 / 4l60e and ecu etc next week, bro in laws helping me out with the 5 stud conversion by cnc'ing me some hubs and shortening and resplining 28 spline axles to suit the borg unless i can find a supplier in nz of cutom length ones ready to cut down. pics to come WlGuuhjQlms you get the idea, engine will be getting a big shove back and a bit of firewall will have to go similarly the trans hump will be being enlarged. subframe connectors and a cage to tie the body up will also have to make the list
  14. ring larry at springtown, normally a two day turnaround to reset leaves, you could also flip the eye to eliminate the need for blocks.
  15. yeah i realise that and don't want water jacket issues
  16. have old big valve 1600 head to use which should apparently bring it up a bit
  17. gathered that seem to remember pistons sitting lower than deck height on last g200, maybe a metal head gasket is another option
  18. planning on doing a little budget engine build on the gemini, heads can get a bit porous with age so was going to deck the block instead of shaving the head for more squish, any argument as to why this won't work
  19. the answer is rb30 patrol which has a rear sump, ring 4x4 wreckers
  20. go efi i reckon it'd be frickin amazing on gas, have some 1.6-1 ratio ecotec rockers with a roller centre bearing and tip that might smooth out the valvetrain you can have, cam would just need regrind to suit.
  21. judging by the tori you'll make it happen
  22. only vl turbo and v8 were 28spline the rest were 25spline, vn onwards get 28spline axles, el falcon on has the 4 pin 28spline lsd unit that i want as holdens seemed to get alot of 2 pin ones, they're all interchangable enough to which is good.
