  2. Theres a build somewhere on the net where a dude has put full s14 engine (sr20det), suspension, subframes etc into an ae86. Worked well and didnt look tooooo hard. In saying that, it was a bit wider than a standard ae86 so might not be ideal
  3. Just keep the altezza IRS width, make the front width match with altezza brakes/hubs/suspension etc, and profit greatly
  4. Without bein a cynic though - horsepower relevant to that many revs generally goes hand in hand with lower torque numbers. All good tho, HP is HP, but in this case probably at a cost. I bet your turbocharged motor has more consistant torque once it comes on boost

  8. Just a suggestion - dont bother with a lux diff. Get an f series from something else, the weight saving will be worthwhile. My hilux diff is the heaviest fucking thing i have ever come across and the LSD heads available are shit as unless you wanna mod a IRS one from a supra etc.. F series can fit an altezza torsen diff head which is coooooool. I like the pic - hope it turns out summin like that! Make sure you keep standard ecu and plenum etc - it will save you a world of hassle/money, trust me!
  9. Na all my suspension is adjustable and is sweet at quite a range of heights I think, but 90mm is the height of my sidewall and thats the lowest that the cert guy is gonna let me go. Unless I get lower profile front tyres which might allow a slightly lower car. Does your engine pretty much sit on the x-member? Mine has about 1mm clearance, which means my sump is the lowest point on the car. Not a great idea but its cheaper than a dry sump (altho drysump is fucking brilliant)
  10. Yeah its not ideal, the sump pan sits real low cos the motor is so tall. Hopefully I can make a smaller one at some point

  13. Mines gonna look so gay at cert time. I plan to have it so slammed that the sump hits catseyes but of course will need to have all 4 corners wound up to 90mm for cert, so I will have hacked guards etc that wont be filled with wheels. I have to do what you did on the front soon - whip off the guards, chuck the car in the air and turn full lock left to right and see what hits.
  14. will tear it all apart for panel and paint at some stage but that will be last thing to do, so that once its done i dont have to fuck up my paint by fitting new brackets etc

  19. My understanding is that the diff heads have 45 teeth/10 teeth making a 4.5, and 41/10 would make a 4.1 etc. Anyway.... I have a 4.5 in my car, but have a 41 tooth crown gear spare in my pile of bits. Can i change it without changing anything else or do the teeth have a different pitch or something on the corresponding gears? I dont have any other pinions lying about so am hoping i can use the ones from the 4.5? 4.1 would give a possible top speed of around 250ks. I dont expect the aerodynamics would let that happen but its more about the 3k rpm at 100kph... Im a diff noob really so just want to know whether I should bother trying

  21. was 250 incl gst. I supplied front yoke thing and rear (hilux) flange though. He was good, only took 2 days and its very nice.
  22. yeah bruv been here for ages but work has been slow. My stepbro broke his arm working at an engineering shop so I told his boss id take over for a couple of weeks if he let me use his shop to do my car. So progress should be good. In the end I am actually working there paid full time until xmas so will have a lot of late nights making that bitch so so sweet!
