  1. I remember this thing being for sale about 4 years ago by some old guy in the middle of the Island somewhere..it was brought in from Australia (hence the 2.8 5M). I remember the guy saying it had leather seats? or are they just covers>?
  2. whoa...keep original man..that's wicked. Question; is the speedo in miles or in Km/h? I'm thinking it may be a JDM privately imported? as it seems a whole lot more lush spec than ordinary MS45's found in Oz..if it's in Km/h then will be JDM. The thing in the boot is the rear air conditioning (a/c -- spells JDM to me, and Esp rear a/c) Thats what the vents are for on the rear parcel shelf..Originally would have had a flap on the unit in the boot that had a small fridge in it.. Similar to this 1972 JDM http://jalopnik.com/393579/curtains-and ... per-saloon This barn find reminds me of: http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=66524 Keep original, except for the four drum, I'd do a disc conversion, join toymods ozzie board if not already a member -- tons of info on these MS45's.
  3. Nice Wagon. Love the "6" badge on the tailgate..where in Aus have you moved to? There's a guy who lives in Northern beaches NSW who has a "Crown farm" has shit loads...he's on the toymods site, sells crown parts.
  4. all good found a pic http://www.tradecarview.com/used_car/ja ... d=300&pn=1 This is a 1993 with the bench seat -- updated, has air bag, abs etc (or does yours have abs as well? my 87 Pres had rear drums!)
  5. odd request, but when you throw up more pics, could you include a pic of the boot? Just wondering whether to get one imported to use as a daily, but need boot space to fit gear.
  6. All good..I've had many toyota crowns with the air suspension .. so this originally had it? (will have buttons for the ride height on the dash - low, med, and high) The car should move to low automatically once she hits 90km/h. The pump if it has/had air susp will be inside the left front guard. There will be a pendulum near the diff that controlls the rear ride height. In my opinion air suspension is more trouble than it's worth, and nearly impossible to convert to normal struts without the ride turning to shit. Saw your comment on the blue century that's on Tm atm..I'm with you on the bench seat, it's kickarse...my President had a bench seat which is rare, most Presidents have buckets but all have the column shifter. My president was fairly tidy but prob not as tidy as your century. It had massaging heated rear seats as well but they never worked.Apparently when it was being vinned in NZ, they had to pull out the rear seat to install seatbelts and never reconnected the wiring again. The air con compressor is more than likely gone on yours, what you'll find is that it's the same unit that's used in Crowns/ cressida's of the era, nippo denso which means $$$, cheaper if you pull it out yourself and get it bench tested and rebuilt.
  7. Nice car; nice price, wouldn't have minded grabbing this myself if I were still living in NZ. I owned a 1987 Nissan President, so a fan of exclusive archaic Japo barges like this..what's the power like in it? I know these aren't powerhouses but does the 5v cruise along ok? Another question is does this beast have air suspension? Always thought that it was culturally a bit subservient of the Japs to have english written all over their cars instruments, but for the JDM only Century they stick mainly to their own language..some might say it looks tacky but we know better. Best idea for this is to get the air con working, tint, legit whitewalls and keep original..loving the fact that you have ordered more original hub caps. Just enjoy this beast the way it is, I can imagine what it's like to drive be very similar to my President..the dash makes it feel like your driving a giant juke box, and the interior is like the inside of a high ballin' jap karoke lounge bar. Here's some pics of the Pres I used to own for comparison reasons... [url=http://img689.imageshack.us/i/26010601fullfe4.jpg/'> Uploaded with ImageShack.us Enjoy the car dude.
  8. The Crown goes bye byes.Since buying the Crown, I've had have a dozen people ask me if I wanted to sell. One was a manager at an O'Brians Windscreen repair branch (when I had a small chip fixed), I declined, he called me a week later asking if I had reconsidered, I declined again. Went home for Xmas to NZ, stored the car at Kennards self storage, came back tp pick it up and the owner asked if I wanted to sell, I declined. Another guy followed me home and asked me if I wanted to sell, I declined. Went to a resturant and the resturant owner asked me if I wanted to sell, I declined, this occured several more times untill a Pilot from Perth saw it on Toymods. He messaged me asking if I wanted to sell. So I replied with a figure that I thought would scare him off (I never had any intention to sell it), and to my suprise he accepted. Everthing has it's price and he was prepared to pay the figure I emailed to back . He didn't want it transported on a truck to Perth, as cars end up pretty dirty and messed up So it's getting transported by Train to WA Perth at the cost of $2500. The new owner is a Crown (more specifically MS123 fanatic) and will baby this car even more than I did. Sad to see it go, I've had it just under 10months, so in the space of 10 months, the car Has been trucked to me in Sydney (from Melbourne) and is now getting sent over 6000km to Perth. Farewell Big 80's white pimp, Long live the Crown!
  9. A guy on the Toymods board here in Aus has just bought a Mint MX36 wags:
  10. Just cruisin on the Jap auction pages, found this..http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k105244624 [/ [/ Bench seat! [/
  11. Loving the woodgrain on the American Market wagons [/ [/
  12. Nice find dude! always wanted one of these..!! keep the faux wood application on the ass...worth doing up, don't kill it.
  13. Had enough of the shitter EF Fairmont. So decided to look for something older, stylier and Japper (read better quality) to cruise around Sydney. I live in and work in the city so use a car SFA but still, it's handy to punt around in amidst all the stop start traffic crawl. So came across an IMMACULATE 1985 MS123, first owner was the CEO of a share brokering firm in Melbourne. It is the cliche grandpa cruiser (he was 86 to be exact) who bought it when it was one year old and babied it. I Sold the Fairmont wagon the same weekend to an Italian backpacker for a grand more than I paid, which got me into 80's pimpin luxury. These were the last new Crowns to be imported in Aussie, and at least have the 5MGE DOHC vs the shitter 5M we got in NZ. Came with 1 years rego ($1100 worth) and the old guy just had the front and rear Air con converted ($1300 worth) to new CFC gas ---- ice cold, fridge works too. EVERYTHING works, every little light (even the one under the hood). Put the car on a hoist, and the underside looks as though the car has only been driven on carpet. Never been in a smash, everything totally mint; paint,Upholstery, boot carpet unmarked, the car apparently was very rarely out of the garage. $47,000 new in 1986 which was massive money in the trashy 80's. Pics from when I first got it earlier this year (go the Monsoons and the furry seat covers) I want to keep this puppy as original as possible, so decided to try to track down some optional factory alloys versus the rank plastic hubcaps. Got it tinted in the meantime. It costs about an extra $100 to get the fully metalised stuff with a life time warranty, and UV reduction. Alot of people still go for the cheaper plastic shit, it turns purple within a year here and bubbles like hell. They can't see out of the windows, and it costs them as much to get it taken off as it was to get put on. [/ Found a set of the factory alloys, got the tyres white walled. one alloy is missing a centre cap --- which just annoys the fuck out of me. So if anyone has one, I'd gladly buy it... And also am after a set of fog lamps that JDM 120 Crowns came with...has to be from the sedan and not the "Pillarless i.e Frameless door-window 120's..The Grille on my Crown has two plates that you can unscrew to fit the lamps. There WILL BE a 120 series crown out there in someones backyard with them. Impossible to get in Aussie due to stuff all imports here. I'm back and forwards to NZ and can have them sent to NZ addresses etc. Give me a PM if ya can help.
  14. Nice buy, i know the car, used to live down near waikanae, some business guy used to own it, i took it for a test drive about 4 years ago was going to buy it then but decided to pay some bills instead. I've owned 4 of these, well one was the UZS 131, and the other's were the MS137's (exact same cars but with the dirty ol' 7M BHG legends).. strange how the cars are identical to the 3.0 except course the V8, have an air bag, and the velour is slightly different, as the v8's always fade and go a funny colour --Pimpin purple!!!! but the 3.0's velour stay dark plush blue. Most of them were equipped with GPS and have electronic compass, on screen diagnosis for the suspension and electrical stuff, but your's has an aftermarket jap tv in the place of the factory sat nav. Awesome cars cept for when the shocks go (last about 10 years, cost about $1500 a corner--reason why i got rid of my ones)..i think the old guy had just replaced the rears when i was looking at it.. The 1UZ is primo, only real probs are leaking power steer pump, and ERG or shims can make them "ticky" Those cars have the best dual a/c i have ever come across, even better than a celsior ls400 i owned, used to be able to get it so cold inside the cabin that i could see my breath even on 25 deg days!!! They have fuckin beefy full frame chassis mine weighed about 1870kg with quarter tank at the weigh station... awesome cruisers, good luck man!
  15. how about black? there's a black one on one of those links above... anyway there's a place in aussie that you can order new carpets from, they list for the 280c 330 series, sedan and hardtop have the same floor pan so will fit...except the original nissan carpets if i remember are cut out mats for each of the four foot wells right? but anyway just another option for you...any luck with getting a light? might have to use yahoo japan but fuk know's how ppl do it, im sure someone on here can help you suss that out tho. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Quality-Moulded- ... dZViewItem
  16. nice score, saw nobumps bidding on this as well...hard to get these without rust around the boot area, must have been looked after pretty well..yeah the pimpin plush glamour interiors are pretty styley on these things eh. Suprisingly good on the gas as well..
  17. wicked to see how you don't fuck around, str8 in, think big! Glad that you ended up with that wags, you are the old school crown guru by the looks of things! just outta interest did you get it transported up to aucks? and if so how much did it cost? also is that wagon's speedo in kms or miles? they were imported CBU i think, does it have power steer? is your parts wagon too fuct to bother getting on the road? or was obviously worse nick than the blue one yeah? Anyway nice work man. Top shit.

    Crown bags??

yeah you do need custom controllers, i have had 4 of these air bagged crowns, and one of themi had for parts did have the aftermarket height controllers. The air bags fuck out after 10 years or so, and they are going to cost ya around 1k each corner new ex japan---- big money, but have you tried joining classicrown..theres several guys in aussie with them who have sussed them out and are willing to give advice out about how to modify and repair them. Also theres a MS137 on trademe for parts atm for $250 buy now, could be good for parts, if that's what model ya got (the 3.0's same set up as the v8's) http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 97.htm?p=9
  19. yeah we all know the 2j is the superior, but for the ease of conversion and $$$ value a 7MGTE is the winner (with head done) it's a straight bolt up job, besides it's a cruiser, this car is the shit regardless...it has the style to compensate for whatever power plant it's got.
  20. having no b pillar is only fully appreciated when the windows are rolled down anyway
  21. Nice one Simmo. glad to see you finally made it here! primo wagons, fuck im of the mind that the parts wagon is too good to wreck, despite dereg'd...and in full agreeance with Cam on this in regard to the bench, fuck yeah 8 seater!
  22. ahh yes the 330's...such whale like class... Links here http://www.eonet.ne.jp/~kitabaya/history/history.htm http://www.eonet.ne.jp/~kitabaya/ http://nostalgiccar.com/06_love/love42.htm and some piccies 260c coupe in Brisbane cat's fuckin whiskers
  23. Thanks for the comments guys, yeah im big on originality, quite a few have over done the bogged tailgate and clear lens style with the 70 series, not really my thing. Yeah greatestben i love those old celica's, there used to be black one around here a few years ago, with burgundy interior, and jap spec purple tints, looked wicked, distinctive cars. I've owned alot of cars, ummm probably over 80, was a bad habit i picked up when i was a kid. I sold my Celsior as well, so just have the wagon now, as far as price goes i suppose at this stage you can make me an offer, im not looking forward to putting it on trademe can't be fuked with the stupid questions etc. PM me.
  24. cheers man, nah im keeping it as is for the time being, i just got pulled over by a cop this arvo for being 10km/h over the limit..amazingly i got off with a warning..must have had his quota filled for the day, or maybe they are trying to rebuild their shattered public profile, sent me off with a caution and a comment that my wagon is a honey.. Im taking it for another roadtrip this week up to the Waikato to see some mates, then to the coromandel. The old couple i bought it off sent me an email saying they would love to see it again, they were really attached to it but i think the old boy decided to sell it after he clocked a labrador in it so they got rid of it and got a small late model honda. It looked pretty ratty when they last saw it, and they are happy as it wasn't wrecked. But yeah it's pretty much a certainty now that im going to gap it off overseas in a few months, so was looking at storage for it but that has now fallen through. So soon i better sell it off, i'd say the next owner might want to do the engine up-grade lower etc etc, i'd just keep it as it is all standard, but yeah. yeah i have seen some with massive amounts of rust, the donor car was so rusted that i thought it would split in two, the rear pillars weren't even attached to the body anymore, you opened the boot and you could twist the rear of the body around...the blue wagon in the picture all the door bottoms were completely gone, and mass holes underneath. My wagon lasted/survived due to garaging and tectyl, the underside is mint too.
