  1. jsut double clutch like you should get used to it real quick
  2. im gona blow some minds here but flat head inline 6 soemthing a bit different, and should get this bucket boogying along perhaps http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/vintage-parts/engines/auction-421659127.htm or i dont know, stick this in it http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/ford/engines/auction-421779795.htm
  3. tack weld a strip of steel over it, itl be sweet or do nothing, its not even half bad
  4. chassis is plugged up, engine bay is in primer, and il half way through scraping the shit off the underside of the front half may be able to start putting bits back on this month
  5. factory solo seats for these look like the old style tractor seats - but sprung leather. Then there is usually a small chrome parcel rack behind that
  6. Some silver backed tar stuff from trademe (theres none on there right now, but comes up in $30 and $100 lots) - stiks itself on, im happy to use it as everything is rust proofed and all the seals are water tight. also have jute type under carpet sound deadening, and just picked up some silver backed fluffy stuff, which will find its way into the firewall and wehrever else i can get it. Im expecting it to be a very comfortable ride (However iv never owned a car with sound deadening or even carpets )
  7. Clang, Boom, Steam rust cut, whiskey drunk, patches cut, whiskey drunk, patches welded, whiskey drunk, shed caught on fire, whiskey drunk, whiskey drunk, bed Think i will drill a wee hold in the middle of where the engine towers mount, so i can inject fishoil or what have you into the front chassis rails
  8. Showed Log the autodec carpets i got were too "fluffy" rather than loop pile
  9. Two updates today, wow So my two sidelights dont match. The passengers side had been replaced with a bodged together unit, which i then broke. I picked this unit up, with stuffed chrome and no lens Its a little larger than the drivers side, but it will pass unless you have a good look Sanded it all back to steel, used a B15 Commer lens and bezel to fit inside the unit bezel. Fitted a new bulb holder (to suit the origin type bulb used even) and gave it a lick of paint (will need another, this killrust green is pretty close to what i have on there, and the truck will end up with a new coat at some point) I enjoy these little projects, makes me feel better about having a minor in complete bits in the shed
  10. yea, two stokes no likey no airbox
  11. Landcrabs a bit big, shed barely contains my minor
  12. Painting it wont cost anything, I can do it in my shed Buying the paint and thinners and sand paper will. That depends on what paint you want. BRG again? did you get the brakes sorted today?
  13. Supercheap carries Penrite 30wt oil, in 1L and 4L packs Repco also stocks castrol 30Wt I would say you would have no issues running a high zinc 30-50wt oil (try for one with as little additives or dertergents as possible)
  14. Trupdate time (truck update, yea i think i like it) This is the air filter that came with the truck. Not really fitting is it (in looks, and actual fittment). No mention of when or why this was fitted by Mark in any of the history. Im guessing the original oil bath one was lost when he sold it (and then bought it back about 5 years later, the ownership was never actually changed, so he was the "owner" all that time too) Horrible fit all round, plus its not a race car This is more like it, oil bath filter from a Chevy. Fits like a glove and looks spot on to the original. The thought did cross my mind to gut the oil filter and adapt a modern paper element to fit, However i just topped it up with 30wt oil and will use as is
  15. ratchet crankstart ruled me i hope you set something like that up permanently
  16. small gel battery with solar trickle charger?
  17. There is a "change of ownership" form you can fill out (on the plates.co.nz site) Even if you dont do that, swap the plates to your car for a month, then you can applyy for them to be yours (useful if you cant get ahold of the other guy) small re-manufacture fee, cant remember the price, again its on the plates site
  18. Amazing, im going to strap a caravan body to the tray of my truck and bring the marshmallows Sweet spot, sweet digs
  19. Where is that? can i live there and tinker with my truck
  20. Paint the engine, clean stuff is so much nicer to work on/see the leaks
  21. The brother came over the other day, and we spent most of it eating cakes and pies, drinking coffee and occasionally rubbing the old lump (in amongst this the engine got cleaned too) Its shiny, so that means its rebuilt right? (acutally before this i decoked the head and will reset the valves once its running. Thats all this old girl wants) Ignore the painted park plugs, they are just there to stop me painting the threads. Might do the head nuts black for a bit of contrast, and go over the alloy bits - timing cover, sump etc again. Clutch is off for replacement, contemplating shaving down the flywheel, but i probably wont. Also rebuilt the front brakes, so all that is done
  22. sandpaper the parts that hold the bulb in then test for power there
