  1. Score!!! Just gone and picked it up and took it for a quick purr around town. So good to be driving her again! And very happy with the job they've done. It looks mint!! Will take some photo's when the sun comes out in a few days so we can see what it's like. But yeah, stoked!
  2. Hahahaha! Just looked at that pic again, if your sposed to be 12, she looks like a 5 year old! Hahahaha! Where was the cable tie? You gona start a project thread and show the hatchi to the masses? Take some pics of what your've done too yo. They'll be loving the gillmors
  3. Manual Bundy? Havn't heard that for a while. Kiwi music ain't it from a few years ago when Mama Said was around? Vagualy remember them being at X-air in Hamilton? Blimmin random music found in newly brought cars. My dad's old A31 Cef had a cd jammed in the player called "Train train the Blue Heats", sounded like jappanese kareoke. Only english words were "Oh baby". Edit, Omgoodness... actually found it on yu tube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbTawfvtHWs It's like the Ramones asian cousins
  4. Is it legal to rock round like that with no gaurd on? Would be ors
  5. Nice pic bro!! How'd Sarah like it? How was it?
  6. My thoughts exactly! I double and triple checked the price with him and yeah, didn't know what to make of it. Presume that would be back to bare metal etc, but still, for not even half the car....
  7. Thanks guys, looks like it should be finished by the end of the week or early next week hopefully. They quoted me $5500-8500 to paint the other half of the car!! That's two guards, two doors and a bonnet!! Don't know how they figured that out, seeing as the've paneled and painted the roof, guards, doors, boot lid and boot surround, and it was only insured for $5000 (stupedly underpriced, putting it up before it's finished by a couple of G). So the repairs must of cost way less than that, plus all the parts, plus the paneling out the rear guard, I just don't see where they came up with that figure for the rest of it. So I'll take it elsewhere.
  8. After a little bit of a kefuffel, it's looking very good. I've been poping in every few days to check on it and am very happy with the quality. They didn't want to use the guard that I got from Chris as it was too rusty and they wasn't much/any rust on the car, but they had to for the tail light hole and one other piece just above the fold line. But they done it properly and sand blasted the parts and fixed them up before splicing them between bit's of the original gaurd. And the dude who worked on it done a awesome panel beating job. Only used minimal bog just to smooth the very last bit out. They have also fixed a few other little dents that were around the place too which is good of them. Took some photo's a few days ago, but stuffed it up and deleted them, so here are some from today. But yeah, they put it on the chassis straightner and it's as straight as an arrow. Very happy with how it's all going ATM. Just getting a few scrapes on the front gaurd fixed and then they'll be spraying her. They originally talked about "blending it in" but after a call from my insurence broker, they are now doing the full panels which is cool.
  9. Pfffttt, photoshops for girls - real men use MSpaint! There you go, choped, sectioned, whitewalls, bigger rear wheel, slammed and body trim for massive two-toneing. (which i'd need photoshop to do... )
  10. Sweet, you got something in there at the moment? They weren't going to fix the scratch's on the door but got that sorted. Some kind of stuff up with the claim etc... Took some photo's but deleted them accidently. Gutts. Was that this Sunday? As in tomorrow? I thought it was on the 20 somethingth? If it's next weekend I'll definatly come. Going to Hams (as in hamilton, not hamish) on Friday for the weekend, so will shoot up to mere on the sunday and meet ya there. Hopefully in Gloria! What you up to today yo yo? As reguards pics, go to www.photobucket.com, register and follow the instructions. Make your the pics you try to upload aren't too big. Then once you done that, copy and paste the "image link" below the picture to the webpage you want. Image link looks something like like this: . looks like typing when your writing a post, but will come up with the picture when you submit your post. Sounds a bit difficult, but follow those instructions and you'll be right, give it a go here if you want to see if it works. Stoked to hear about the progress on the Banzimobile...
  11. Mate, your engineering skills = Good stuff! Seriously nice, loving everything about this car... honestly can't think of one thing I'd do differnetly. Favourite jappa on the forum right now!
  12. Went and checked up on it yesterday, they are doing a good job there. The guy working on it is doing it awesome, like splicing a piece of the replacement guard inbetween pieces of the original guard / sand blasting it before he worked with it / keeping it as original as possible / using minimal bog etc... pretty stoked with how it's looking at the moment.
  13. I feel so smart for once!
  14. Someones on the ball! I would so do a epic essay of a reply on this but at the moment I'm trying to do a test on Thermal Properties of building materials/energy/climate/enviroment/E, R, K, kWh, kw, etc etc etc values/azimaths and a whole heap of other totally useless (to me anyway) infomation that is totally doing my head in, seriously... I got to go have lunch. End of day, light spray of black shouldn't affect intercooler efficiency and IF it did, it would be negligible. But as you say, the turbo's sticking out like a sore thumb so why bother? Want people to think it's a old unintercooled carbie set up? Edit- forgot to mention Reflectence/emittance. Polished metals have a high reflectence value (the capacity to reflect radiated heat). So spraying it black will take it's reflectance value down quite a bit and make it not so good at reflecting radiated heat. But again, that's going into the whole heat soat thing when not at speed so meh. But making a shiny surface duller (i.e paint) will increase it's ability to emit heat. So IMO, I think I'd paint the front black (so it emits heat well) and leave the back shiney (to reflect heat radiation from the engine). Best of both worlds perhaps? What do others think about that idea? Also, some stock intercoolers/radiators are black, so it can't be that bad for the engine could it? If it robbed the engine of a couple of Hp, i'm sure they wouldn't do it.
  15. The parts all arived with a huge thanks to Chris and Steve for their efforts and help. Just droped it into Collin Davis panel beaters and had a chat with Collin. My initial fears of them doing a quick, bog and paint job have been put aside. He was stoked to see it and said he didn't even need parts, and he could fix it all if he had too. He says he's keen to sell his bussiness and get into restorations and looks like he'll personally be doing the work on it which is awesome. So walked away feeling very happy that they are doing the job. I told him the insurence co is messing me around and he gave me some pointers as well, so that was great that he's onside too. Can't wait for it to be repaired and have it's shiney new coat!
  16. Paint job = . Nice job man! Engine choice = A+++ Yeah, front bar going on or something?
  17. ^ You think your so funny zak! Nice one. When you gona post up some pics of the Hatchi5? Specially with the bonnet. Did you actually fit that pan-hard? Wasn't exactly what was happening when we're in the car the other night. Yeah, gutted it happened like that, and that it happened at all. Going to see the Colin tomorrow about the panel job and put the hard word on him to do a good job cause it might be showing up at a few events with it's new coat on, and he won't want a bad name from me. If he does a good job, I'll make sure I do the best I can to promote him and will make it worth it.
  18. Sick/looks broken! Hahaha! What about sliding doors into the back? Nothing like a good horizontal guilatine. But you could push button stopers on it to stop it from doing so on the inside, have it slide on a baracket into the back. I've thought it out in my head, pitty it's probebly a no go. Would be sick. Such the best van ever. The only Rota Bongo I think I'll ever like! O yeah, also needs a big lazer cut chromed old school rota logo the size of the VW Kombi badge!
  19. loling at weight, only clicked now, 5 minuits later... Still a sick, sick car... tis gona be awesome man, keep up the good work!!
  20. cheers for the link, didn't even see it/pay attention to it last time I was at horipito. Will definatly check it out again this winter when I go down to the snow. Might have something good inside or something, in case I need anything. And a big thanks to Chris and Co. for chopping the guard and getting it for me from Gary. Cheers boys!
  21. Cheer's y'all for all the good vibes. Stoked that'll be fixed. Hopefully be mint by the end of things. Just can't stop right now
  22. Drum roll please.... ....badumbadumbadumbadum... IT'S GETTING FIXED!! :D :D :D :D :D Score!! So stoked right now, straight off the bat, no argueing or anything! Since I sorced the parts for them (thanks to the bro's hookup's!) they said they'll have her back on the road and all fixed up! Getting it done at Colin Davis panelbeaters in Birch Ave - anyone know how good they are? So hopefully will get the whole car panel and painted except for the passengers side two doors and front guard, which I'll pay them to do at the same time hopefully and will have a minter at the end of it!! So, sooo stoked right now. To Chris and Steve, I'll be in touch when I get back from Oz on the 16th of this month. Then the car goes in on the 21st of this month for 2-3 weeks.
  23. Yeah man, if you can find a GTO 5 speed off a 4g52 would probebly be easy. They have quite a lot of play in them side to side though and feel a little sloppy for my likeing.
  24. It's good to see to on here finally man! If it gets half the treatment the wagons getting it'll still be top notch by the time your through with it! Love this car...
