  1. Damn, just got a reply to say all of the spots have been filled, but I'm on the waiting list if anyone pulls out.
  2. I might be keen actually. Just in a boring modern car, nothing os. I've emailed Tony from playday to confirm a spot.I've edited the title to reflect the new date.
  3. Daytona next time. Was 12 people at cock and balls Brent. Probably our best turn out in a year or more, but it does make for an expensive evening for everyone. Yowzer/whoever else that's keen, we should catch up for some beers at mine to come up with a few ideas for new, cheap meet options that more people will be keen for.
  4. I'm in. Markku will be too no doubt. That's 3.. Is Keegan coming? Want to talk to him about cageyness.
  5. A good idea would be to get some shorter sealed inserts, perhaps from a later model Commodore if they fit, and chuck those in. You can get them shortened if they are too long too. I'm looking at doing this at the moment but I got sidetracked. That way if you need to trim the lowering springs a little bit it will all still be nice and captive and will be easily certifiable when you dump a decent lump in there. Don't need to go straight to adjustable suspension.
  6. As ten-5 has not yet answered I'll speak on his behalf. Yes.
  7. And all the piping etc held together ok at 20 pounds?
  8. Engines looking awesome. Have you had a chance to open it up yet? Those wheels, in my opinion, look great unpolished. I would just leave them, keep the sandpaper right away, but coat them with something to protect the alloy so it doesn't corrode.
  9. Awesome. I have no idea how you are going to get those steels to fit, but it will be fantastic when you do. And A+ for your persistence with that horrible motor in there. I promised myself if my starfire ever popped it would be coming out and never going back in.
  10. Nah but just saying what I did with the twincam due to similar issues, because running water through an EGR port probably wouldn't be the first idea that pops into peoples heads as a potential solution to the problem.
  11. When I built my chevette we capped the back of the head where the old thermo sat and rerouted the water through the EGR system so it spat out of a conveniant pipe at the back of the intake manifold. From there I just had an inline filler cap on the hose to a radiator. It's probably the only setup in the world like that, but I think it's good to think outside the box with this sort of stuff.
  12. Cool, I missed the part about burgerfuel next month. Sounds good. There's even a pub next door if anyones desperate for a beer.

Only reason for going to a single would be because of the yuck standard setup, but you'd want to take it easy at first. At least get it running on standard gear or a small single, then if it's going ok you could think about upgrading. A car that runs well for a long time making decent power is way more fun than a car that makes huge power... once.

If you have a 1g-gte handy to steal the loom, ecu, turbo, manfiolds etc off them grab the knock sensors off that too? From a quick google it looks like they have 2. I've been reading up on turboing NA engines and if you use all of the turbo gear then bump up the fuel pressure with an adjustable fuel pressure reg while a wide band is connected it should all work really well. I've been a fan of high comp turbo engine for a while. They don't usually have the ultimate horsepower potential of low CR high boost engines, but they respond really well to minimal mods.

  16. I actually quite like the current wing. More so than the s8 wing atleast. Just lose the sideskirts and see how it looks.
  17. If you look at a clear weekend in january (maybe 2nd weekend?) or February with enough notice people would probably come from Auckland/elsewhere for it. There's heaps happening through here though, so might be difficult for people to commit for a while.
  18. sounds cool. next few weekends are probably going to be a bit hectic for me. is it open between christmas and new years at all? /it's close to karts too
  19. Shit, I never would have thought bottle caps would suit a civic that well. Looks great.
  20. It looks so much better with the new seat. Looked very awkward before.
  21. Oh shit, that's pretty scary. So the thread was stripped off? It could have happened at a worse spot though I suppose, if he has to look for a bright side to the situation. That's probably the safest area on the track. Imagine if that had of happened at full speed on turn 1 - 150+km/h and outside rear wheels gone. Probably would have rolled!
  22. Very cool. I like what you guys are doing with getting the cars out for a bit of a regular run. Gutted about the wheel. I've heard that some tracks have a bit of a habit of loosening wheel nuts. Pays to check them after a couple of shake down laps and intermittently throughout the rest of the day.
  23. True, until one hundred plus five gets his drive sorted the S/C is probably only going to slow him down by mega drive belt slipage
