  1. No powdercoating is cheap, last set of wheels I did were $15 a wheel, not including sandblasting which I did myself.
  2. Yeah they sell New tyres, but only in the normal sizes you find in NZ. All the unusual stuff is second hand from Japan, however a lot of them are in near new condition.
  3. Try Affordable Tyres in CHCH http://www.affordabletyres.co.nz/default.aspx They import all sorts of odd sizes, and website currently lists a couple of 2nd hand 185/55/13
  4. Hey James, the Hilux shocks don't require shortening usually, they are short enough as it is. Actually will probably have them for sale soon as I want to go with adjustable rear shocks, have a spare pair of 5.5kg TRD rear Springs that should fit of your sedan also, maybe can work something out
  5. I'm running kyb hilux shocks in the rear of my Levin with 4.7kg TRD Springs, it's firm alright. Will get you a part number when I crawl back under it tomorrow
  6. Also W series G/box member on TM ending soon http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/toyota/other/auction-381276431.htm
  7. You want a crossmember from a RT132 or RT133 Corona sedan or liftback. As already said you can probably use your original gearbox crossmember if you still have it, depends if your car originally had a W40 or a T40, as TT132 came with both options depending on the spec level. Was a guy down here wrecked a RT132 not long ago, he may still have some bits, think his username is 'Rob'
  8. Can take them apart at work tomorrow night. Will cost you a box of Steinlager.
  9. I'll take the GL Bumpers if you want to sell them off
  10. Nah I sold it to a kid in Blenheim, he blew the K50 after about 2 weeks, then had it off the road for ages doing rust repair & W55 swap. Never screwed the sideskirts on, was going to fit them properly after they were painted, but sold it before I ever got around to it
  11. Nah different car, D1 mule had a similar Notch but used a lot of the parts for his AE70, not sure where body eventually ended up
  12. Mean car, used to own it a few years back, bodykit was my brothers idea, never liked it really Pic before kit fitment
  13. Car was spotted this morning, being driven around, still in one piece, wheels and all. Was on Memorial Ave & turned into Greers Rd, Burnside Wreckers have been informed, & a few off the usual suspects have been spoken too
  14. Hey guys, my workmate had his Starlet stolen overnight. 1981 Toyota Starlet OM2562 Jap Import 4 Door Very Straight Tidy body, Newish White Paint with Blue Pinstripe down each site. Distinctive 13 Inch Bridestone Zona wheels, Gold with polished lips & chrome centre caps. Nolathane Bushes all through Rear end. Bright Pink CD Player Any help or info appreciated Thanks Rob
  15. Try Driven Performance for wheel spacers, they list 15mm with 12x1.5 pitch studs http://www.drivenperformance.co.nz/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=754
  16. Yeah it's BS, i've had a few sets of Playz turn up on Imported wheels, never had any problems getting WOF with them.
  17. Technically speaking you need to re-cert the vehicle for a change in wheel sizes. Certifier needs to assess that change in wheel size will not have detrimental effect on handling, braking or clearance to body or suspension components. Some certifiers will do these checks for a reduced charge for wheel change only, plus the cost of a Cert Plate Reprint. It is also possible to have a vehicle certified for more than one wheel size, road wheels & drag wheels for example. That would need discussing with your certifier of choice
  18. Take it through for the Re-Vin process first, they will assign your vehicle with a Vin number, Pass or Fail. They will then proceed to fail your car on needing Modifications Certified. Then you can take the car for a cert. Your cert plate needs to have a Vin number aligned with it, not neccessarily a Rego number. Once you have the cert plate you can finish the Re-Vin Inspection process & apply for registration.
  19. So did this transform your K50 into a 4 speed or were you able to retain 5th? I've heard elsewhere you could rebuild A-series K40/50's with parts from K-series ones, it's nice to have this confirmed No K50 was still a K50, I just removed the damaged 2nd gear off the mainshaft the K50 & replaced with the gear from the K40. Was pretty simple really
  20. AE85 or AE70 is A series K50, all the internals are interchangable with K series K50. When i destroyed 2nd in one of my AE85s, i scored a freebie K40 from KP60 & swapped the damaged bits over
  21. There was a wrecker down Oamaru, Autoland Dismantlers, they had a couple of RT84's. Could be worth a look for parts, altough it was a couple of years ago that I was last there. Seems like the 6R is one of the harder to find motors around, I didn't have much luck when i was looking for a spare, turned up plenty of 12R bits
  22. Try Autodec for carpets, just got a set for my Corona, it's good quality & not badly priced
  23. KE70 Wagon Shocks for the rear, in the front you can use 4WD Carib front inserts (can't think of chassis right now), same body size, but 30mm shorter stroke. Or if you want to put a spacer in shock tube, then ST185 GT4 Inserts or AE92 Levin are much shorter. Photo below is all captive with 3 or 3&1/2 coils removed all round, ke70 rear shock, carib front
  24. Just cranked out a couple now. Turned out Average-Good. Text me if you wanna grab them Rob
  25. It will be Toughened glass then, which yeah you can't drill it will just explode if you try. Is the window flat? if so just draw round it onto a bit of cardboard and mark where you want the holes (you will need to be pretty dead on) and take it to pretty much any glass place and they can send that cardboard pattern off to get toughened so you'll end up with a nice new window with the holes you want and it will have required safety stamps on it for the wof man Its legal for us to cut holes in vans and put windows in so i don't see why you can do the reverse of that
