  1. Nice!!! Sucks about the rust, but it's a common spot and it's better than mine. On both sides Cheers Matt
  2. Very cool, I pine for a pre facelift 65, and yours is pretty much exactly how I'd do it. Nice work. Cheers Matt
  3. Completely random, one of the guys at work was rambling on about Hillmans today. I show him pics of your wagon and he pulls this out of his toolbox: You want? Pm address. Cheers Matt
  4. Love it!!! +1 for a bit of low as well though, but it sure does look good event stock height Cheers Matt
  5. Insurance cuntpany wants to write it off, valued it at $1400 and the repair quote I got was double that. Getting an assessor round to check it out/up the value then I'll probably end up taking the write off, buying it back and repairing most of it myself. Can get aftermarket door and guard so just getting the pillar straightened is the mission Crown has left the garage for brake/diff/engine upgrades so will be pulling the diff and leafs out of this soon for shortening/lowering. Probably pull bench fora rebuild at the same time. Pic cause I hate pictureless updates: Cheers Matt
  6. Cartune company had something to do with that, not sure why it didn't get finished. Or maybe they were finishing it?
  7. Progress = good. I religiously follow this thread and hope for updates, just don't comment much. In other NZ Crown coupe news I recently found out about this one through a random FB post: You know it?
  8. oh, the guys insurance us paying to sort out the panel damage, my panel guy is just sorting shit with the insurance company. plus the wheels had just been delivered, they'll be getting a clean up. cheers Matt
  9. so......... its been fucking ages. and i haven't actually done that much. mainly because a big hit of demotivation came my way when a falcon decided to molest my poor little datsun. while it was parked. retard, how the fuck do you miss a bright white ute. gah! wheels don't quite fit at the back, i've got about an inch each side i can get narrowing the diff, i'm going to try and get some narrower leafs (easy enough apparently, haven't checked it out yet) to bring it in another 1 or so each side. fronts are pretty much right where i want them. still a lot of low to be dialled in at both ends obviously, planning on some stretched tire and a bit of poke at both ends and see how close i can get the guards to the rim before i get a canary then maybe pull her off the road and think about a 4 link and some coilovers. Clive tried helping out but mostly she just got in the way/scabbed scratches in the sun. and the ute doing what it was built for, fuck i love utes.
  10. bruv, good to see something is happening with this again. those Simon's old wheels off H8CARS??? i like them, suit that old school MT look. there's a guy in America building a similar truck rocking the 3 spoke chromes, its got a disney theme. you seen it? tray mounted up properly yet? miss you man, can't wait for catch ups next time i'm home. cheers Matt
  11. love your car mate, there's a guy on onsills.com who's building a bagged 50 4 door, i'll try and dig up a link so you can check out his build. actually, here it is. he's in the process of moving out of his workshop into a house so there hasn't been much progress lately, he does some killer metalwork though http://onsills.com/onsills08/phpBB3/vie ... d11d313401 cheers Matt
  12. You sir, are winning at starions. Well done! Cheers Matt
  13. As very much not a Lada fan I still thought your wagon was awesome. One of those cars that had me browsing trademe after the first time I saw pics of it. Sorry to see it go. RIP [RUSHAN] cheers Matt
  14. Love what you're doing man, chevy + bags = win!!! Did you know you're gonna get massive diff pinion angle swing with the unequal bar lengths though? It'll put a lot of extra pressure on your uni joints, and mean you need quite a long slipper joint in the rear section of the driveshaft. Have a read through this article, then feel free to throw me some questions if you want. I'm definitely not an expert but ive read a lot about it and helped out with a few builds, including my own. http://www.minitruckinweb.com/tech/susp ... ewall.html Cheers Matt
  15. Been busy on Yahoo as well, got some works 15x7 -25 for the front (pic to come) and lost out on a matching pair/bit wider to suit the back. Then I found these 15x10 -45. Bands need a cleanup, and screws look pretty corroded but they were pretty cheap so I went for it. There's actually 11 inches under the guards at the back of the Datsun, I'm just not sure how that's gonna work out with the offset. Will be fun making them fit though! Cheers Matt
  16. Some pics with a mates 520 Cheers Matt
  17. I decided to stop being a shit cunt and just posting update pics in the 'Fav pics of your car' thread. Won't be too much progress though cause I love driving this thing everywhere while the BA XR6 ute sits in the driveway. Who needs power/brakes/comfort/AC/etc. This makes me smile every time I drive it. How I got it, pretty much standard besides an average as fuck attempt to recover the door cards. Dash is crack free but the bench is proper fucked. A mate is gonna retrim, she's just busy for the next month or so Mirrors came straight off, I've wound down the torsions and put some 2.5 inch blocks in the back and fitted whitewalls all round. There's still plenty of low to come but it's a start. I've also replaced the clutch slave and master and fixed most of the engine oil leaks. Cheers Matt
  18. motherfucker!!! already saw pics of carbs in z car and was jealous, then you buy my favourite ever wagon! fuck. i am losing at cars right now. how many crowns have you owned at this point??? and currently own? cheers Matt
  19. i like the way you think, uz + column shift = win! cheers Matt
  20. fuck this thing is cool!!! love the track pictures.
  21. it'd be a boring world if everyone liked the same shit. not what i'd do but i can see where you're going with it. giz better pic of bonnet. i'd say 'fuck the haters' but apparently thats the cool thing to say now, therefore gay. so just do what you wanna do, there's plenty of clean versions around, yours is the first i've seen or heard of with a burnt bonnet. be different, thats what OS is all about. cheers Matt
  22. i have decided that i love your ute so much that i need one. aka couldn't find a similar vintage hilux and found a real tidy one with a wellside. pickup on friday. lowering questions to come. cheers Matt
  23. Mike tried modgies and rs5's on it, neither looked anywhere near as good as the standard rims with whitewalls. not sure if they still fit after the brake upgrade though. plus traction was a bit of an issue cheers Matt
  24. Mike Bradley's old wagon from the Mount??? if it is then its a very well built car, some awesome bits in there. he let it go way too cheap too, i was gutted when i heard what he sold it for. would have grabbed it myself. good score! cheers Matt
