  1. This is relevant to my interests for future possibilities On a holley you need to externally reference the power valve(s). I also had to fit a small spring kit to my accelerator pump check needle to prevent the air speed through the venturi syphoning fuel out the discharge nozzles.
  2. You oughta take your speedometer to E parrot and sons (If they still exsist) And get them to recalibrate it to read in miles per hour instead of KPH. Having such a low top end on your speeo will will a pain in the arse when you're doing a decent road trip of any kind.
  3. Looking good Hogan. I'd definately suggest you consider header wrapping the top part of you headers, and foam lagging the supercharger discharge pipe then going over the foam with that pure aluminuim foil tape to keep the pipe from getting too hot as it crosses over the motor. Are you planning to run the 32/36, or a single sidedraft carb? I run a holley on my s/c datto. It runs fine, and uses less fuel than it did with the 32/36 weber. Although to run properly, I had to do a few modifications to make the carb drawtrhough compatable.
  4. Don't paint it. Get a wof for it the way it is, and see how many times you can get pulled over.
  5. With a cheap link, and the TBI, you could unlock some crazy horsepower Karl. I'll txt you up tommorrow. PS, given your addiction to old corty's, you'll fit in with those bogans like they're youre family you were separated from at birth!
  6. Excellent! I'm thinking maybe we should go see Simon tommorrow evening and pick his brains about the costs involved in running the TBI that his pinto van has.
  7. I meant Y40. (was thinking of the newer Nis v8's with their 41's.
  8. There was an old coot down here who rolled a Y41 V8 with lotsa coin spent on it in a moggy minor at the drags. It was lotsa noise, but it was inconsistant as fuck. Plus his PB was slower thsn mine. which makes me
  9. Also, the Y series motors only have a 3 main crank. So if you want to rev to 6k+. fit an RB yo! (Otherwise the crank will snap)
  10. I didn't even know you had this mighty beast in your stable 10-5. You really are a bit of a dark horse..........
  11. ^this! At NZDatsun we have a "hardluck" trophy for our biggest annual meet. 1st year it went to a guy who parked it's car on it's roof being a muppet, and last year to a guy who blew his head gasket.
  12. Absolutley no idea. The blower I have here came off a VG33 in a nissan frontier pick up truck. (ebay special) I did a bit of googling on these motors a while ago. They reckon that the blowers are out of their efficency range once you turn up the wick on these engines. But given how much fewer cubes the pinto has, it should be able to pep things up quite comfortably without pushing the envelope too far. The only consideration will be what the stock engine can stand. Although with a realistic boost figure, and a conservative tune there shouldn't be too many reliability issues.
  13. We haven't got that far yet. Some say that the eatons can't hack having fuel passing through them. Although I've seen a few set ups where they've been run with drawthrough carb set ups. I've got an m62 here that he could buy much much cheaper than that.
  14. Thats where the VE figure come into play. We're figuring either an eaton m62, or an s/c14. If we know the VE we can get closer to a happier boost figure.
  15. What motor CT? 8' sounds like about spec for your C20 van? If so, there is a second adjuster slot where a 6mm bolt fixes the dizzy itself to the baseplate which bolts to the block. You should be able to squeeze enough extra adjustment from this to get it fucking bang-on. Although, best bet is to tune your engine with the absolute max timing it can stand without pinking. I always tune my blown datto by boosting up a steep as fuck hill. I just keep creeping up ther advance till it starts to ping, then back it off a nat's cock. There are tons of variables as to how much spark a motor can stand, and the factory spec was just where it was "close enough for a country job".
  16. After the Nats, i500GT would like to fit a supercharger to a pinto. In order to accurately calculate what blower drive ratio to run, we're going to need to know what the volumetric effeciency is. As it's going to be a low-buck set up to begin with, (how they always start out, but so seldom stay) it's going to be imperitive not to run too much boost. Surely some of you pinto fiends will know a ball park figure for this engine???
  17. Make sure you pull apart the broken gearbox, and post pictures of the broken parts in the "offerings to the god of speed" thread. I'd like to know why it was making that hidoues noise.
  18. WoW! After meeting you and hannah on monday, I thought it rude not to check out your build thread. I have to say the thread just doesn't do it justice. It's like a really sweet log cabin, but on the rear of an old truck. I wish I had the mad skills to build sweet stuff like this.

    3y + sc14?

Do it!!!!!!! I heard of a guy who had a pinto in viva with an S/C14 with a holley 600 on it. reportedly it would try to go sideways in 3rd gear when the blower was driving. i500GT is all amped up to SC14 one of his collection of pintos after riding in my SC'd car.
  20. Depending on what your compression ratio/dynamic compression ration is, you might get away just fine without lowering the compression. There is a chance that you'll be able to buy an off-the-shelf "head saver" shim. Water meth injection can aleviate detonation isssues. Cooling mist make really sweet high pressure pumps that can handle methanol, and are plenty adequate.
  21. 24 hours, 34 minutes aand we'll be meeting up to go!!!!
  22. Joker? How much shit does she have? I may have a spare seat, but my car is little, and space is at a premium. Plus I'm gonna have muchos grog etc.
  23. Can the feed be subway? Is there one in palmy?
