  1. O yea sounds good I'll loosen up the bolts and try twist it a bit Otherwise I might just buy one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Turbo-Compressor-Outlet-Adapter-Flange-2-Nissan-RB20DET-T3-Turbocharger-/281249334737?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item417bc445d1&vxp=mtr which gives me more room to play with than the standard elbow. If only the exh and intake were on opposites sides like normal heads. I'm putting this turbo on a sohc LD28. Thanks.
  2. The housings look exactly the same apart from the angle of the inlet ends. One ends at about the T3 flange the other one has an end that finished slightly past the T3 flange. But the difference in angle doesn't seem enough to mean that it's just one bolt rotation over. Or I didn't look hard enough. It seemed to be setup the same. I need that extra angle to be able to fit the intake manifold above the turbo.
  3. Hi guys, I have a Rb20det stock turbo with a compressor housing that has the intake pipe sitting on a slightly different angle to my other Rb20det stock turbo. I was wondering if I am going to swap these housings over, does the turbo I'm going to use need a full rebuild..? OR hopefully I can just swap the two compressor housings and simply make sure she's nice and tight? Thanks, Heath
  4. Thanks for all your opinions. I've put this turbo on an old LD28 engine - in the past I have run it without water however I did have a problem with oil coming out bascially all ends of the turbo but I put this down to a kink in the oil return line to sump. I thought if oil couldn't get out that way then it must be finding another way out.. But that would mean it's making its way past oil seals so only other problem might be that the seals are screwed? So I may just try running it again without water and see if the oil stays inside the turbo as I have a non-kink return house now. Cheers
  5. Hi guys, I bought a Rb25det turbo last year finally got it all plugged in and fitted. But when I put water in the radiator water started pissing out the side of the turbo housing as you can see in the photo. I thought it was a casting defect initially but obiously it's a crack. Do you think I'll need another turbo or is there a decent weld (cast iron) that will fix it up and remain good with the high temps the turbo will have? Maybe the other guy who owned it never used water... he didn't mention the crack in the auction, said it was good condition and went well on his cefiro..
  6. I see a Td04 on trademe but T25-T4 range is plan for my nissan I think
  7. There's no throttle body pritty sure so fuel will do what it needs to? I can't adjust the fuel pump anyway can't see how/. Oh yea nissandiesel forum cheers forgot that one. But oldschool.co.nz is always the first resort. T3 turb sounds good. I'll get one of those - external if I can.
  8. Ah right good advice. 600 deg C wow that's hot. I live in Napier at the moment too been here 9 months, but leaving this week though. Cheers
  9. I'm sure the compression ratio is 22:1. Yeah L20et have the T3 flange I'm sure so I'll get one of them to start with, just a matter of finding one. Thanks for the help. What does EGTs stand for? something to do with heat/stresses?
  10. It's a manual - can you recommend a fast spooler? My diesel turbo knowledge ain't the best.. but I'll learn something with this project. A variable geometry turb sounds like multiple turbos in one? 20psi could be done but I wouldn't go past 14. Would a T3/T4 do the trick?
  11. Hello. I want to source the right turbo for my LD28, I think a T3/T04E might be a bit extreme for this low-mid boost application. I would look to run 5-10psi atleast for a start. It's a low RPM beast so maybe a <0.5 A/R turbine housing would suit?? What do the L20et's use as their stock turbo? Or RBdet's for that matter? Any help would be appreciated. I also fail to understand how a T3/T4 hybrid can be so powerful but a basic T3 or T4 not so much? Thanks.

    LD28 Turbo

Thanks for feedback guys. I couldn't reply as my account had been cancelled. I'm thinking just an L20et manifold plus the turbo. What standard turbo does L20ets use? Or RB20det use? Where does that J-pipe come from DJZ? What other adjustments would I need to make? I would think timing and more fuel (maybe bigger pump).
