  1. Thanks I think I will have a go at doing them first but contact me when you look at the rh floor. The sill is not that bad that just replacing the main profile areas should do as the Jack points are OK just some surface rust. On side note I am really amazed that there is little rust for the fact that the metal is bare from the factory inside the sill
  2. Excellent work on the floor How much $$ for two front floors and two outer sills Seriously I do have tools and some skills to make them but time and motivation is always an issue. And your end result is that good.
  3. I found you a T bone steak you may enjoy https://www.manheim.co.nz/damaged-vehicles/000000000005446486/1986-jaguar-xjs-coupe-3-6-coupé?referringPage=AuctionListing Link may not work but it goes to auction tomorrow in auckland, probably very cheep eg $100 + fees
  4. Hello MARTS-PL310 to make me find this easier link me into the conversation. I do still have the spare car & since I now have a wagon I do need to wreck the parts car to make more room. It has a rusty floor also & bottom of pillars are rusty also but is straight. shipping would cost you alot unless your visiting nz for a holiday. Nice car tho, could you make your own build thead, people get bored with my very slow progress so it would be good to see another one to help inspire me to do more work on mine.
  5. The 515,000km Maxima reluctantly dragged this back home yesterday but it was good until it got to my driveway & remembered it was a FWD dragging lots of weight up a gravel driveway at 930pm
  6. May I recommend using N2O for a heater when it backfires
  7. If you want power for cheep I have a M54B30 I can sell you in a E46 coupe shell For $1200 or if you want it as it is now (driving with wheels) $1500
  8. I'm sorry but I don't endorse using a M4x engine of any discription & spending over $10k to get it spinning 10k and the car will be no more valuable than it is with the M20b20 Buying this will be so much easier & cheeper & would add value almost equal to what you spend. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/bmw/engines/auction-1529182040.htm?rsqid=2a1dfb619cb2417d91f75ff0274b21a3
  9. Mustang drivers can't always get it right.
  10. I have been doing a little on this when I can & today since I have finished refitting the rare option (for NZ new) heater I was able to fill the car with coolant & run it until warm I can report no leaks from heater & thurmostat still works. Water stains shown are from driving around with wiper spindles removed many years ago & the new goal is to get this back on the road before I restore interior etc. So while outside I gave it its first car wash in over a decade then drove for a few 100m's round the carparks
  11. New page brings new energy into building this tho there wont be many photos to post up as my 15yo digi camera is takestoo good of photos to upload on Os have to slave through photopucket adds insteed
  12. Oh sounds like something I could attend or be a host my workshop is quite big when not filled with customers cars it might motivate me to get some work on my car done, its only been over a year. Is there a finalised date set?
  13. What rate are you offering for a trained mechanic that is on to it? I don't want the job but most are either leaving the field or city to better paying jobs so unless you're paying 60k or more good luck with your search.
  14. My customer has recently purchased this vw & maybe interested in getting some $$ back to justify his purchase
  15. I think the number of coupes was approx 130 in nz and about 300+ were sent to aust they were ment for SE asia market. As for the sedan I have heard of a few au stanzas that were sent here but dont know of any here apart from the rally car that enters the silver furn rally ect. My Pa10 pre dates the aussie model and had jdm std equipment no borgwarner or single carb in sight. But its not known where it's from but recently I have found a badge for a '77 Auster matches the embossing on the back of the front seats. Anyway cool car and good work. The dyno is most likely the clutch
  16. Workstore in east tamaki is my best recommendation. They also have small workshops with power for approx $750/m
  17. Just stamp your foot make the date 28th or 29th if people rather go to another event that is how it goes there is always something on to conflict with it. I can come on the 29th but only maybe the 28th due to working.
  18. So tho I have decided this car is not worth my effort fixing it has been quite useful. Firstly used the front wheels for customers trailer that needed a new axle (could not find new 4x98 anymore) 2nd I used the rubber spring helpers from the LF spring to fix a accord that was slightly to low in the front (BMC used these to level the car due to uneven spring from factory) thirdly a nice stag came in for its wof and I sold him all the switches and controls from the column & center consul as his was in well used condition. So now that It has come to some use its off to the dump in a week unless someone wants to buy it $300 or buy some parts off it cheep
  19. So the other week thought it was a good idea to bid on this thinking I could put new points in and go... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=827790532 since no one else bid obviously no one else thought it was a good idea. Turns out there was quite abit not declared in the auction (not sold as is where is) eg major rust in both A pillars and also small amount at bottom of all doors. anyway guy claims he had spent $5000 on it but I struggled to find where. tho engine and trans has had work by some unexperienced mechanics (mixing silicone sealant & cork gaskets is a sure sign of this) and it does run quite well once i changed the points, Ballast resistor, and put some oil in the carbs I dont need this car and am willing to sell it for what i paid for it $600 now that it starts and drives but if your not quick the price will go up as i will fix it.
  20. Fitting a rear anti sway bar to the rear of the car will only worsen your problem and cause the car to tripod. there is no doubt you have a spring or shock issue. Coil over shocks are not designed to be used for a long time and buying them 2nd hand is not advised and cusco seem to be the worse when it comes to that fact. Normally there is a reason they were removed from the last car. When I first set my datsun up with the same setup I made the same mistake with some free cusco coilovers it was a scary 1st drive much tho my problem was that the shocks didint work and was similar to driving a bump stopped car constant bouncing. Also WOW $400 to attach some sticks to the front tyres then jack the car up and down to check for movement in the toe of the tyres (bump steer check)
  21. I reccomend the rear subframe etc form a Nissan Serena van they are similar to the cefiro type but have a Nylon transverse leaf spring intergated in to frame so all you need to do is mount an fit shocks and most of them have a viscus LSD with 4.3 or 4.6 ratios. They mostly have drum brakes to keep traditional look and come in 4, 5, or 6 studs depending on model grade.
