  1. So two guns or do you clean when the base is flashing??
  2. So you are using black base and clear. Any reason for this over a solid black gloss 2k ??

    PAINT THREAD

Hi gents of the mystery art of painting This thread is a massive help .It's also good watching sheepers Toyota stage by stage. I'm looking At painting my bmw blue. Something simillar to the Brock Holdens. I would love to use the new edition of this paint but it's got a met/flake in it and i want to do as much as I can and adding the clear over the top is another element for something to go wrong. I know I can paint the jams, bay, boot etc, but can I paint the pannels one by one also, then shoot the roof, c and rear 1/4 in one go. I'm thinking that different days and conditions will give different results? This is another reason why I was thinking the solid colour would be more forgiving? Thoughts .

  5. Just put a deposit on these of the kind and generious Mateja. I have no idea if the offset will be correct, but it will be better than the wheels I currently have for after the 5 stud swap. They should not interfere with the tirods or coil overs. Will need flairs though . And here is a pic of the bbs spoiler .
  6. Yep that's the correct Holden caliper I'm looking at using. I did not realise that the 540 had thicker discs. Thanks for the tip. Now I know that I have an option if the Holden brakes don't work out I'm hoping to grab a caliper and disc this weekend and have a friend Chuck the disc in his lathE. I measured the bore on the hub the other day and the e24 centre bore is larger than the Holden. I'm hoping it will all work out.
  7. Thanks to the old school freight system I had a bit of rocking horse poo arrive .A genuine bbs German front air dam. No damage just needs a sand and a paint. So happy to find one here in nz.
  8. I'm glad they worked out. I will pull the disc rear end out of the car for you in the next week or two.
  9. I have just spoken to Neil. He said he will be able to bring them down. I'll drop them off to him on my way to the train in the morning.
  10. I have a set of e21 trailing arms that you can have , they are drum brake but hubs and caliper mounts can be made up. But will be good for lock up and measurements. If we can get them collected you can get them at Nats .
  11. The discs are near new, just a bit of surface rust and the pads look to be new as well. Have a look for info on swapping the e30 trailing arms over that will give you rear disc also. And keep an eye out for a small case lsd out of a e36 318. Will fit in to your small case housing and be way stronger .
  12. Hay man looks good. Good to see there is no rust under the guards. What are you doing about Brakes?? Going to need a bit of an upgrade with that under the bonnet. I got a set e21 323 discs and calipers that I will be putting up on trade me soon.
  13. my BMW has a sway bar from factory. im swapping in a different rear end and both of the factory swaybars, from the original and new rear, will work with the new set up. any one used one of those universal swaybars??
  14. From memory they had cam issues. But if it's still alive you should be sweet .
  15. Yes please more info. My rear end swap leaves me with no sway bar. So I'm keen to learn More as I don't know if I need one or not .
  16. Thanks Clint . The caliper is bolted up in that photo. The disc is a bit smaller than what will be used in the end .These are 280, the Holden disc are 296(I think) and the bmw disc are 302. The issue I may have is the thickness of the disc that you mentioned .The Holden discs are thicker than the bmw discs. And the centre bore on the Holden disc is bigger so they are loose on the hub. Can I make a press fit collar to allow me to use the bigger bore Holden disc??
  17. Soo what are the rules regarding spacing out calipers. I test fitted some Holden calipers on my struts today. They bolt up but the disk sits off centre. What is the legalaty on placing a spacer between the caliper and mounting lugs?? Like a 4mm plate. Here is a pic of how the disk and caliper are off .
  18. I'mso far out I turned up tonight. It's quite a let down pulling up the drive in to an empty car park!!!
  19. Have you tried segedins? 09 2561120
  20. Wow I thought it would make a diffrence but it's I did not realise how much. I fitted new plugs and the carbon core leads off the donor car. It's so much easyer to drive. The old leads were wire core and the resistor caps were falling apart. It was a baztard to drive slow. Now the hesitation has gone , it's almost civilised to drive. It's got a bit more balls and I hope it uses less fuel. In other news I need a couple of 5x120 pcd wheels with a low offset. Steels or space savers are fine. And any one know a supplier of auto grade carpet by the meter?? I saw a thread where a guy used what looked like what autodec might use. He then formed it with a heat gun. But he was in the UK. I can't buy molded carpets and I'm changing my floors to drop the seat height. Thanks forreading and any ideas any one might have.
  21. Hi Those guards look right at home. Are they Celica specific or generic??
  22. Ok so water blast it is this weekend.. If the baby lets me out in to the shed
  23. Another important part arrived yesterday. A set of ex berjj fortune 500 coil overs. And a set of e24 front hubs for the 5 stud conversion . Now I just need to check the hubs will fit the new coilovers .
  24. Check that the power is making it over the terminals in the solinoid? If the solinoid is clicking but not turning, chances are it's the brushes or contacts in the solinoid. If you tap the end cap with a hammer and it starts it's the brushes, the tap is often enough to move the brushes enough to make contact on the com. If the tap is not making a difference Chuck a test light in the cable that goes between the solinod and the starter if it's weak or nonexistent on crank, the power is not making it through the terminals in the solinoid cap.
  25. A coby is not a specific type of muffler, but a brand. What most people refer to as a coby is simply a resonator. but they sell extractors and mufflers. almost every car needs at least one often two resonator. So don't be afraid to use a coby And What do you consider sweet sounding as what so menu my neighbours obviously think sounds sweet, I want to throw a brick at their face aS they drive past.
