  1. Sweet hookup dude!
  2. Sometimes off Trademe, I'm sourcing a load of new tape at the moment so I'll ask if CCC's are still available if you like.
  3. Thanks, that's exactly what I want to do.
  4. Here's the rest of the rear diff, after it was lightly waterblasted, that stuff sticks like... Think I'll strip it right down and see what it's like inside.
  5. It's a 2008 TRX420FM, 420cc fuel injected 5 speed manual 4WD. I was going to use it at the beach to tow the jet ski but summer came and went with everything that was going on this year, so as winter rolls in and less daylight to work on the caravan I'll need a workshop project to keep me busy. But of panelbeating to do to the rear diff guard, a bead blaster makes fine prep, probably boring as batsh*t for some but it keeps me entertained. Before Half Done Bead Blasting done.
  6. I had the frame sandblasted as it had surface rust covering the bottom parts, I wanted to leave the stickers intact and the top was in mint condition so masked that area off. Using POR-15 on the frame awesome stuff, sets as hard as glass but lacks UV stability so I'll overcoat the exposed parts with chassis black. Have coated the front/bottom so far, went to turn it over and some sand blasting grit came out of a parallel universe i think, I blew out every nook and crannie with compressed air so many times.
  7. 'spose this goes in 2 wheels? Every man needs too many projects at once so lets kick off another one. About a year ago I picked up rough looking TRX, off a dairy farm, battery had gone flat and the guy couldn't be bothered getting it replaced so he bought a new one, I figured that his maintenance programme would be a similar non-caring state so I ended up negotiating a pretty good price on it. Not my photo, but very similar to this except it looked a lot worse and had a 70KG+ bull bar/side bar attached to it which I removed straight away. Spent the next week cleaning it, /soaling it with cleaners, waterblasting, steam cleaning, that cow poop was absolutely caked and baked on. After the first couple of washes I removed the bottom skid plate and filled up 2 x 20l buckets of cow poop, which went in the garden. Decided that it really needed a complete strip down, so here's the bike in my shed with a few bits out of the shot view There's a Quad bike in here....
  8. Thought I might have a go at this for some motorbike bits like screws levers etc.. The idea is to set up a couple of small baths for small bits and pieces using 20l containers so I can put the lids back on them and store them safely and use them as I need them. Just starting to get some bits together, have a small omron controller, power supply, small tanks and some anodes for both so far, a mate might be able to lend me a polisher and wheels/consumables for a nice finish. Did anyone else end up having a crack at this?
  9. I was recommended a brand from a company called R2 by a guy nicknamed Klinky in CHCH that does a lot of 50cc projects, I'll dig the info out Edit : Here 's the info, Japanese pistons called TKRJ and they are stocked by R2 Enterprises in AK
  10. I like to think of it as...My interests are far bigger than my shed. C\: Run "Shed Cycle" 10 Print "Shed clean and organised!!" 20 Print "start a project" 30 Print "stuff dumped in shed in a hurry" 40 Print "pull shed apart looking for stuff under the stuff dumped in a hurry" 50 Print "Shed in absolute chaos as I cant find anything, avoid shed as long as possible" 55 Print "Frustration building" 60 Print "Dump more stuff?" 70 input x 80 if X$ ="yes" then 60 90 Print" At breaking point yet?" 100 input z 110 if z$=yes then goto 130 120 Goto 60 130 Print "Clean up Shed, inorganic is in 6 months so stick it on oldschool " 140 Goto 10 ok so it's been 20 years since I programmed in basic...
  11. its just one of those small topmaq cabinet blasters, It probably runs at 50% blasting/ 50% catching up
  12. It's because PC power supplies are switch mode and once they hit max current that's it, there's no reserve. Traditional transformer based power supplies with large capacitors will deliver higher current for very short times. I used to run a small 13.8v power supply and a 12v battery, pretty similar to what tortron just suggested except it was a regulated power supply, chargers can can cause a fair bit of hum if left on while you're using the unit.
  13. just skim reading here but you used a step ladder at your wedding? Rats are everywhere at the moment, poisoned 3 at home last week, woke up to the noise of rats in the ceiling at Omaha wednesday morning. Just went and got the family bucket'o'death from the hardware store to try and sort the problem.
  14. New step in place, was a tight fit but we didn't have to chop the plug off the power lead. First part of the new draw bar on, part of the old one for comparison. Glad I made the decision to replace rather than try to repair after seeing inside the old one, didn't seem to look that bad when it was still in one piece. Huge thanks to Chris taking time away from his busy schedule when he had so much waiting to do back home, appreciate it man.
  15. A bit more progress over the Easter break, Chris came up and we chopped the old draw bar off and replaced it with something a bit more substantial, while also making it a bit longer so I could get 2 gas bottles on mounted up front. Chopping off the old one was a dog of a task, took far longer than we expected as it was welded on top and bottom and anywhere else they could get at.
  16. how do you work out FAD if the manufacturer doesn't specify? Ive got one of these http://www.nardicompressori.com/en/?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=product&task=show&cid=209&name=extreme-4d-90-litri&Itemid=947&category_pathway=60 Supposedly a 480l/min compressor, Ideally I'd like it to be able to keep up with the small sand blaster I have, but it cant, not sure if its not performing as it should or I'm asking too much of it but it doesn't feel like its double what my previous compressor was on paper. I guess on the positive side, is nice and quiet and the automatic dryer works well.
  17. Just for comparison, I grabbed one of these too see what they are like, Bright!, it's like having a small floodlight on the ceiling. Decided to go down another route as it was a bit over the top and I don't like the idea of an upside-down cigarette ash tray on the ceiling. Ended up grabbing a bunch of these with white surrounds, I can switch them off separately to the wall switch if it's too bright.
  18. Found a ton of handy little bits at the RV show including some nice reading lights for the 'van, not too modern, not too old.
  19. I have some Otari and Revox decks you could borrow and use for a bit.
  20. A good tape deck will blow cd away, I can still remember the first time I heard a master recording on reel to reel, the definition was incredible.
  21. Nice to see these sweet caravan threads. I had a caravan finish date for my wedding last weekend, but missed it by a long shot! Nice work, it looks awesome!
  22. Can I join in if I get both of my 50cc bikes and count them as 1?
  23. Unless the tracker is disconnected before the destination, it will still be logging the journey all the way to where it ends up, even if it ends up in a steel box.
