  1. I was being a smart arse for it being quite a simple circuit for what it achieves, with the code available to load onto the arduino the most difficult part looks to be tracing an injector wire back for the input.
  2. Hooking up 3 wires is hardly building! I'm keen to put one on the Caldina, there is even 3sfe calibration data there to get started
  3. With the Niva back running on all 4 cylinders & twin carbs ive been doing my best to work out fuel economy, so far I haven't got any open road numbers but around town including towing a hefty trailer i've had an average of ~250km/40l tank or 6.2km/l, not awesome compared to you electron controlled wizards but thats equal to the open road economy obtained before I found the buggered head gasket, really hoping I can get it back to open road economy of 10km/l, its all looking hopeful at least. Also purchased some differential air pressure sensors from ali to hook up to the carbs as a digital manometer so I can sort the balancing a bit better (anyone tried this?) once thats sorted i'll add a tps in an effort to relate fuel use with manifold pressure, throttle position and engine speed, kinda like the vacuum economy gauge on some mid 80's cars, but more complicated! It will be interesting to see how the 3 relate to each other and if its useable.
  4. I bet everyone from this thread checking out investments plate's site will put a spike in their visitor count and we'll see a press release next week 'demand for investment plates soars!'
  5. Really? replaced belt and water pump in the caldina and its whining hard, being that its spring tensioned should it be backed off or left as is?
  6. So tidy, and i'm impressed by your enthusiasm for the overspeed chime!
  7. I used to work up there, no easy way without $$$ but skifield car parks after hours.......
  8. Sorry I can't help directly but if the idle screw is doing nothing it usually points at a blockage or leak somewhere, check float levels and replace/inspect the carb and manifold gaskets. high idle to me says vacuum leak
  9. When I took the car for the first test drive after the HG fix things didn't feel right, stumbling at cruise and slightly rough off the line, in a fit of rage (drawn out over a week or so) I prepped the twin carb manifold and swapped the dellortos back in, cos if i'm going to mess with carbs, i'm going to mess with carbs worth fiddling with! Ultimately i'm sure the issues were just gasket/ airleak related and would have been an easy fix but where's the fun in that! I now have a nice sounding engine tuning is a tiny bit off but I need to remove the battery to get at the ports to check balance between front and rear but it drives, and knowing the rings really need to be done I can't complain too much! Dort on And because picture less updates suck, here's a stag on the alpine fault near big bay to chew up your data:
  10. Yeah, Niva's have a center diff and center diff lock, remove driveshaft and engage the diff lock, game on! I've had it in both rear and front wheel drive on occasions, rwd really lightens the steering and makes them much nicer to drive on road, really wish the ruskies worked out a 2wd option when they built them. There is a eastern euro company that make a bolt on adapter that gives 2wd functionality but i'd never pay it off in fuel use because of freight charges!
  11. Nah, I planned one for the carbs but it somehow runs without so never went any further
  12. My Lada being full time 4wd drinks like a sailor but when I had to remove the front driveshaft to replace a UJ it felt much happier about moving along. How much energy is lost in a diff, I know unlocking hubs makes a big difference, but is there really that much drag? 13. What methods are there to monitor/log fuel use with a carby? Somehow measure flow rate into the carb/ out of the tank? A combo of tps, map sensor? For me its hard to get an idea because most of my driving is mixed, little round town then open road out to the farm, i've thought about draining the tank and measuring fuel back in but running out aint fun!
  14. where does that crack end? could it extend down below the water jacket or has it stopped within the water jacket?
  15. Pretty girl is stood up by an HQ and chooses a KP on rebound They say opportunities like this are once in a lifetime, don't screw it up Antonio
  16. I had a similar issue from dirty threads in the block leading to not enough torque
  17. Is it just the camera angle or is that gasket all wonky and out of round?
  18. Really? must be my neighbour! PM me the deets, should be easy as
  19. What part of town? might be able to sort that this week
  20. From memory it uses the other kit as a switch to do the ignition cut and shield itself from the voltage spikes in the primary ignition circuit Looking at the board, it looks like a 555 timer and transistor, you'll be able to clone the transistor circuit easy enough KC5255ImageMain-515Wx515H
  21. there was a kit from jaycar that killed/cut distributor pulses a while back, was quite simple. And here it is http://www.jaycar.co.nz/Kits,-Science-%26-Learning/Electronic-Project-Kits/Automotive/KIT---CAR-REV-LIMITER-GEAR-SHIFT-04-99/p/KC5265
  22. Yip, sitting round a camp fire with a few brews sounds like a good idea, chance of bunnies to shoot for supper would be nice too
  23. +1 for Bush inn, has a stack of new food vendors, and centralish
  24. Something something single carb til I have time for the dellortos.... Surfaced the manifold to get a better seal yesterday, just need to fabricate a better linkage mount and they'll go back on.
