  1. Read the lot....always had a soft spot for cyborgs! Mint example man!
  2. Laid them all out on the workbench so they went back in the right holes
  3. Head was milled by place on King St Auto engineers I think it's called. Valves weren't pulled out when he did it. I reinstalled cams buckets and shims, and timed everything up. If you have the chance to check it out that'd be mint, I'm on a ship in the port and car is down near the cement dome. Cheers
  4. Compression tester on the way...hopefully clear things up when it gets here next week. In the meantime if anyone has an igniter or ecu I could try out let me know please Guess if compression is way down then that may be the root cause... Better start building up that bare block haha
  5. Just had a look and nope he didn't check the valves were sealing...hmm maybe time to rip the head off again...
  6. Nope not since I had the head milled...machinist had to take 18 thouoff it to get it flat though. Maybe need to do another one? Would that stop the ether igniting though in the cylinder? With ether in all 4 cylinders or in Inlet manifold she still just constantly cranks but no sound of it being ignited
  7. Cleared the codes overnight and it's stil throwing code 3. Have had new plugs in the whole time and def no sign of fouling at all on them as i don't think there has been any combustion at all even with ether down the holes. Somehow spark is ok while plug sits on manifold but as soon as plug is back in engine seem to have none...Bloody odd
  8. OK so today I replaced the coil and now have spark on the ht lead and on an earthen spark plug onto manifold. Still no start though even spraying engine start into intake. Had no check engine light on turning ignition on either so pulled the cluster and found the bulb was blown. Replaced that and found it was showing code 3 Found the following on the net for that code. 3 - Ignition. No IGF signal to ECU for 4 consecutive IGT signal during engine running - Open/short in IGF/IGT signal from igniter to ECU - Igniter malfunction - ECU Would I be right in thinking either the ecu or igniter is faulty? Wierd I get spark though if I earth the ht lead or a plug on a lead... Any thoughts or ideas???
  9. Is that part of the coil? Or ignitor?
  10. Yup should do something but when I went today I found I had no spark...so have a funny feeling the spark I did have was weak and coil was on the way out. Have a new coil arriving tomoro morning so fingers crossed.
  11. Could it be the 2 year old plus fuel in it?
  12. Nope hasn't run for a couple of years and definitely not since I've had it. No alarm but havnt had a gd look for a kill switch...Wil do that today too thanks
  13. Yup on compression stroke Cool will try that today
  14. I lined up the dizzy with the 2 indents on the shafts with the rotor arm pointing at cylinder 1 Nope that was attached however it's got alot of broken strands and is in pretty poor condition so I'll replace that tomorrow Could that possibly stop it from firing?
  15. Hi guysI apologise in advance for the long winded please help post, but am out of ideas with this.I recently acquired an 88 fxgt corolla with a bigport tvis 4age engine. It had been overheated, with a suspected blown headgasket.Could still turn crank over with socket on the pulley.I replaced the rubbish radiator and re filled coolant...went to change spark plugs and noticed water in top of #2 and 3 pistons. So head came off, gasket hadn't blown between 2 and 3 but head was bent.Had it shaved flat, new bolts and head gasket - reassembled and tried it...cranks continuously but wont fire. Since then I've tried and checked the following:Cam and crank timing marks checkedNew distributor rotor, cap, plugs, wires and ht lead plus a different distributorSparks on all 4 leads with spark plug outTested coil and ignitor all okFuel pump runs when jumped at diagnostic and cor relayWon't start with engine start in intake or individual cylindersEng main relay was missing when got it but replaced Ecu board looks gd no leaking capsTPS tested okOnly thing I can find that may be odd is with the IGN on and while trying to start, all injector pins are showing 12v. Not sure what may cause this. Also after cranking with new plugs in afterwards they don't appear to have had any combustion near them but not sure if this is lack of spark in the cylinder or lack of fuel due to an injector issueCould something with tvis be a problem?Any other checks I could make or any ideas why she won't catch please let me know...it's doing my head in now!Cheers
