  1. So how many trucks are coming? @JustHarry @Mof Had a few mates lined up but being in the emergency care industry has killed their chances of freedom for the foreseeable future
  2. Today's rain is just on the east coast, will have little effect on the river. Tomorrow, the rain is set to start late morning with heavy falls from midday, this will make the river come up considerably. My current preference is to leave town 8am, hit the river about 10am and make efficient time up to the top crossing, hopefully at the hut by midday as the rain hits, there is about 1-3 hours of lag from the onset of heavy rain to the river rising so that is a little extra up our sleeve. If it at all looks like shits getting out of hand, turning around and heading home or camping on the riverbank will be in order. I quite enjoy being up in the hills for a good storm, so keen as to at least try, if we have to turn around 100m part the first gate, then thats OK, we'll rebook the key and try again.
  3. Yeah thats the one, the final time of 80s was when the timing gear had a fit after the subie crossed the line sideways, they apologised and offered the 5-6 cars another run, no one too worried about the times, just keen for another hoon!
  4. UCM? Get in touch, i'm sure they'd be happy to show you around
  5. He was in his element, everytime I called back into the pits after a run he was chatting Datsuns! Amazing event, I still can't get over how well run it was, from the moment we drove in the gate to packdown, it really is something special. I forget the times dad posted, was nothing startling and irrelevant, this was his first outing in 8 years due to rebuilding the car and he was happy to enjoy the hill without risking too much. I really hope we can make it back again! Token shot of UCM, was good to catch up with these guys, and see how far they have brought that project, compared to what we were doing with it in my years, it is so far ahead in all regards to what we could ever have imagined.
  6. Checked the map, headwaters are further off the devide than I thought, worst of the rain will be through sat night at this stage, I agree, no worries
  7. So fresh email just in with details on how to get key etc, $20/truck and sign in on key pick up. Current weather forecast is shit but possible, i'll be going no matter the weather but prepared to turn back.
  8. Trip is next weekend if you're referring to this thursday?
  9. https://www.miba.com/fileadmin/user_upload/Divisionen/Bearing/Miba_Engine_Bearing_Catalogue_2018-2019.pdf I wish you all the best on your quest, may ctrl-f be your friend. Most catalogues list by engine so finding by size will require a fresh cup of tea.
  10. Cryocoolers/gas liquefiers, the bottom end is pretty much a large compressor and uses heavy diesel shell bearings. The catalogues make great evening reading..... Are the shell bearings available for the rods you purchased?
  11. Thats a point.... Key is booked for 21-22 March, plan is to meet first thing Saturday at Mof's work in Hornby, cars can be left there then head out via Darfield. I'll let Mof list required safety gear, i'm fairly relaxed with the exception if you bog in the river with no recovery points, i'm not getting wet!
  12. Cheers! seems I have looked at that page a few times and not seen whats staring right at me.....
  13. Land rover rear bench seats.... How much can I modify the lower seat before the wof man gets unhappy? Considering now its just a squab tied to the upright, can I install a slightly larger squab?
  14. So I take it you're coming? I'm keen eh, new truck is coming along well too, almost on top of all the maintenance and then onto the camper fitout.
  15. Sounds similar to heavy diesel bearings that we utilise in the machines we build, but I guess you've already checked out applicable catalogues?

Brought a 300tdi landrover, changed the fuel filter to promptly find the lift pump is busted, appears to have been this way for some time and oddly it still runs apart from slow to start after standing a while, is that rough on the injector pump at all?
  19. Just sorting a ball joint and then be on the way......
  20. Got through scrutineering no worries, car is running better than ever. Just drove up the hill for the welcome party, feck the hairpins are steep! drop by the pits and say hi if you have time, i'm sure he'll be up for a yarn or 5.
  21. Arrived into Hahei this evening, all set for scrutineering in the morning then an afternoon looking around, much fun ahead.
  22. Father just brought a new car that arrived wired with big brother spec dash cams, one still has the SD card inside full of .vdd files, any suggestions on what programs will open them? I can see thumbnails on my mac showing intersections, but VLC and Quicktime have no interest.
  23. Not a bad idea if I find somewhere to park it
