  1. Yeah pretty much Urea/water mix converts nitrous oxide into water and nitrogen in the exhaust All I know is its a PITA
  2. Yeah I was thinking exactly the same thing as we got heaps of ex adblue ones I just wasn't sure about contamination. Was told inside plastic of container soaks up residue of adblue, but that could be bullshit
  3. Hey man any luck with your pressure switch? I had to find one a while back for a 5th wheel trailer on bags The only one i found that switched at correct pressure (80/90-110 psi) was from ARB for diff locks, Peter Munro in chch. But other 4wd places should be able to get them. Cool van mate
  4. Haha yeah classic. I see by the pics previous page it could be done, but then it probably wouldn't be on rock at tdc Braden if all the cylinders are low that would mean multiple valves bent... did the motor break a cambelt? Have you had it apart? Edit: I see gear cant be reversed on this motor
  5. I had said that about the crank being out earlier. But then thought about it and it wouldn't affect thec compression as it would compress on the next stroke. It would only affect the dizzy Sounds like head and pants off sorry buddy
  6. You turned the crankshaft 360° not camshaft right?
  7. Are you sure the crank isn't out 360° Making the valves at rock instead of compression position?
  8. Soak the bolt/nut in crc for a while? Or try a gas torch on the nut to loosen up the rust
  9. Hey you got those indicators sorted yet? Check the bulbs. Sometimes when they blow they short out. Also the flasher unit can short out when it fries too. But your sparky should know that
  10. Lol yeah or how to completely drain the sink. Looks like you backed it a little bit too far over the bank, and the van couldn't bring it back up lol Chain the two graveleys to the front and give em hell
  11. The red one is idle adjustment and the green one is idle mixture by the way (adjust at operating temp, with fingertips, and burn the shit outta them, its the only way to do it) Also, adjust your choke cable mount so its not kinking the outer cable so much
  12. That's manual choke, same as mine until I swapped for 1.6l (and I can see the cable) Lemmie just borrow your pic
  13. As far as I know from word of mouth, Mrs McLean got the business in the divorce, but that's neither here or there. Since then they have been getting less and less lenient IMO (maybe they got audited a few times?) It may be the high work load, they are almost always busy. Or sick of muppits, I don't know. Other things in mind but A- Its a public forum, and B- I'm not looking for an argument I will say though, they haven't spotted my missing reflectors in the last 6 years hehehe
  14. Ok so thinking outside the box a lil bit Assuming its a pulley/belt type drill press, what if the belt is creating static charge when spinning?
  15. Don Mcleans is now one of the worst nowadays, Theres a place down Cable street (off Blenheim road), I think its called online, hes pretty cruisy
  16. Oh so im a bit late to throw my 2 cents in, but ill do it for the hellabit Fuel problems can usually be diagnosed by a loss/lack of power or response (usually gradual) Electrical problems are more on/off like a switch, cough/splutter/miss, that sort of thing Authough in saying that, it can be hard sometimes to distinguish, more something picked up with experience Glad you got it sorted tho
  17. I don't think they took anything off the samurai, but I could be wrong. (He's out of business now, only one certer in chch now) I don't know how the van got cert in that case, it was dodgy as hell. (Cut up cross member, slip on spacers and 1.5 turns on front wheel nuts at most, loose steering column, rotors too small for calipers, no d/s hoop) Sorry spamming
  18. So get car certed on other wheels of the same dimensions, grind off words and fit wheels after? Side note, cert guys actually removed the wheel? Edit. Was cheviot nz or aus?
  19. So I don't know if this would be of any use to anyone, it was helpful for me when I was setting up my Samurai and trying to get the right diffs/tyre size http://www.rocky-road.com/calculator.html So this page has a couple of useful boxes near the bottom if youre looking at changing tyre size or diff ratio and want to know the final outcome before even touching the car (put trans case ratio at 1:1 obviously) It may take a bit of messing around converting MPH etc but its spot on in accuracy And a page for converting metric tyres to inch http://www.onlineconversion.com/tire_size_conversion.htm
  20. Hey good to meet you guys last night Burgers weren't bad either
  21. Just fill coolant, then pull one hose from core a little bit to let the air out, refit hose and job is done. I have to do this to my samurai coz the auto choke works on coolant and the carb is higher than the rad cap
