  1. Theres a complete fs50 for sale in auckland atm on trademe, i think it was $250 buy now. Edit - Link to listing http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=684479246 i would get it if it was closer
  2. if you have a welder you could make something up with a bit of bar/plate and an old socket, maybe a couple of old bolts for locking pins and centre shaft. Thats what I would do anyways, but Im the biggest cheapskate out there...
  3. Is compression ok on the cyl with the dent? I saw a scooter piston that had dropped the valve seat into the bore once and the dents on top of the piston had closed the ring groove and pinched the ring so it wasnt floating any more. Even with a new head it would not have had good compression.
  4. If we all followed this advice we would still be living in caves
  5. A lot of manufacturers use cast alloy, i cant imagine there being a problem as long as its all thick enough to cope with the stress. Probably just anneal it after welding to relieve hardness. This page has some info on ali motorbike tank construction that may be relevant http://www.eurospares.com/frame7.htm
  6. My 2 stroke tuning book says to file the surface smooth on pistons when they go like that. Its because the piston gets too hot and expands and scrapes against the bore. Smooth it off and chuck it back in, and you may just have removed enough material to prevent it from touching next time.
  7. What are you going to do about the pitting on the forks? I have heard you can braze and polish or probably use some epoxy sorta stuff but have not tried it myself
  8. If this is a doublepost mods feel free to delete, but. Couldnt find anything else on here. Hamilton motorbike swapmeet september 15th Claudelands showground starts 7.30am, $5 entry http://hamiltonmcc.org.nz/news.php?id=anytime4a70e91fd93b1 ( I have no affiliation with this event, just thought others may like to know) Hopefully there will be some good bits n bobs there. Might see you there! Cheers Guy

    Abarths V50

I usually just use anaerobic flange sealant, loctite stuff in place of a head gasket. Ups the compression a bit and havnt had any problems yet. ... But dont blame me if it you try it and do have problems!
  10. ... Thats a good point. Wouldnt it just get a vacuum in it like how the main jet of a carb gets a vacuum to pull the gas up out of the float bowl?
  11. If you dont see it on a 50cc gp racer then I wouldnt imagine it would work. Manufacturers do all the maths, so if they thought it would help then they would do it.btw if you have not looked up 50cc gp racers you should. Suzuki made a 3 cyl 2 stroke 50 with like 14 gears so it could stay in powerband ahahaha Link: http://2strokebiker.blogspot.co.nz/2010/01/1968-suzuki-50cc-grand-prix-roadracer.html
