  1. At a WOF re-check the inspector only checks the failed items BUT must fail any new things if they see them, so get it fixed.
  2. That is not factory tint. Looks pretty dark.
  3. If it is a factory tint it is ok. It will have “AS3” on the safety mark. If it is a film it won’t be factory.
  4. https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/vision/glazing
  5. A window does not need to go down for a wof. It does need to have a safety standard on it, so it needs to be up to be checked. A station wagon can have 35% tints max. If there are no back seats it becomes a goods vehicle and then can have dark tints on the rear windows.
  6. My guess would be a stuck solenoid and when it won’t move two gears are engaged.
  7. Put it in park when you park. Problem solved. When was the last time the fluid and filter was changed?
  8. Should take the wof inspector no more than 5 mins to adjust the headlights at the inspection. Did they try to adjust your lights? Was it a testing station? You will struggle to get them in the right spot without a beam setter.
  9. Aurion badge is only used in Australia and NZ. Everywhere else they are V6 Camry. Our cars are Aussie built, so you want to find the TMCA option. Try every option, something should connect. Maybe ES350. Does the Techstream connect to other cars?
  10. I was just thinking about this. I probably have no free weekends left this year, but always keen if I can get away.
  11. If you fail a wof, it is entered into wof online and your car no longer has a current wof, even if it hasn’t expired in the sticker. https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/introduction/inspection-and-certification-process/operating-a-vehicle-without-a-current-wof-or-cof
  12. Nothing in the Virm about coloured tints. Can not be reflective and must let in 35% of the light. So go hard.
  13. There is nothing in the VIRM about traction control, only stability control. https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/tb-general/esc-id I guess the issue will be if the inspector thinks the TC light is a ESC light.
  14. @UTERUS listen to @Yowzer and ignore the other muppets. light bar on its own switch, not connected to the high beams is all good, even facing forward as a work lamp.
  15. I saw that camper passing through Paekakariki today.
  16. Punch a hole in the filter before spinning it off and it will drain most of the oil out.
  17. Main difference between DOT 3 & 4 is 4 has a higher boiling point. I don’t think you will be getting the brake that hot in this thing so use whatever.
  18. https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/lighting/reversing-lamps They don’t have to work, but can’t have a hole in the lens or a stuffed reflector
  19. Here’s the rules https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/lighting/rearward-facing-position-lamps make up your own mind
  20. Just red bulbs may not output enough red. You may need to colour the lenses too.
