  1. Boss truck!! running shit over is best bit about having a 4x4!!
  2. Yeah man i work in Paeroa, when you want it checked out? Flick me a message.
  3. So its basically all stripped now, got some steel wheels on her for the time being. Only got to pull the old gas tank out then its ready to pull body off. Off to get sandblasted in the next couple of weeks then sort a order list for replacement steelwork. Have bought a small block engine stand off TM to sit the 283 on. Going to paint it up, new gaskets, water pump, fuel pump, starter, alternator, 4 barrel manifold, HOLLEY 450 and maybe some headers then thatll do for that for now.
  4. Cheers guys, need to get cracking and finish stripping to go off to be sandblasted... Need more time in the day!!
  5. It seems to be a pretty solid well built hoist so glad to hear it held up in a earthquake haha...Thick steel compared to some of the chinese crap.
  6. I managed to score a 4 poster from a local buisness upgrading...Was made 30years ago by a company in Katikati who still make and service them today. Solid NZ Made products unlike some of that chinese crappp..If you can find one of those they pretty solid.
  7. At this stage just a static drop but could be swayed to bags potentially......will see how the project goes cost wise. Otherwise itll just be real low (custom springs and shortened shocks ) on the 14s.
  8. Cheers for all the good feedback guys, Yup 13inch wires, going to swap up to some 14 inchs though, bit wider tire than the stretched ones on these, especially for such a big car lol. Will keep updated, on a stripping mission at the moment to get ready for panelbeater
  9. Think ill just keep the 283 at least for now. A/Iv already got it so dont need to buy another engine lol and B/Its only going to be a cruiser so should be plenty enough grunt 4 Barrell holly carb, paint it up with new rocker covers, alt, starter, waterpump, timing cover etc and should look all good under the hood lol. She needs a good going over to repair the rust etc but figure ill do it once and do it proper as its got to go through a vin as well.
  10. haha guessing thats me? lol. Cheers guys cant wait to get her done, a long way to go yet but be a good project thats for sure!
  11. Discussion therad > viewtopic.php?f=18&t=36383 Suppose its time to post up a project thread on the ol girl. Acquired a 1964 Chev Impala SS Convertible a few months back. Needs a bit of love and work to be restored to its former glory! Shes been a bit of a slut and been through a few hands with little to no work been done on her in the recent years (besides cutting some springs and slapping some paint on). Good thing is basically everything is there more or less a complete car. When i got it, sporting its white garage paint job! (Not to bad considering) Cut/No springs and not running. Its bright red factory interior complete with SS floor shift. Interior is still MINT condition no rips, fades or anything. Got to work on it removing the 283 & powerglide with the country spec engine crane. She has seen better days underneath and needs a bit of rust work done, panelbeater wants me to get body sandblasted then will get to work ordering replacement steel work from the states. Can buy brand new EVERYTHING for these from the states which is good, and at reasonable prices with the exchange rate. Have got to work stripping her down, This is how she sits currently. Plans are get rust and panel work done, Tidy up and paint engine and fit with shiny bits, 4 barrell carb and the likes. Sandblast and paint chassis, fit with new suspension and brakes. Refit everything and get it on the road.
  12. When my surf was overheating i replaced the pump and coolant etc, turned out to be the viscious fan had no clutch oil or whatever in it so was spinning but not engaging hard enough. replaced that and never had a problem again.
  13. Nice huge difference, looks mint with those wheels!
  14. Dont have car near me so ill grab pics next time im out there, I wouldnt think it would be hard to find another chassis but will see what pops out of the woodwork.
  15. Might be debatable if its up to tradesman manner, guess i need to get vinner to look at it before i decide further...If hes happy then itl be ok i guess.
  16. Impala. Hence the wrapping for some dro's
  17. Thanks have thrown up in the thread, Car hasnt been on dros but has a chassis been put on that has been hacked up/wrapped for them.....Panelbeater seems to think its going to be more of a hassle than anything and recommending getting another chassis but will await a definitive answer before I charge ahead.
  18. Is chassis wrapping certifiable/able to pass a vin? What are the criteria it must fit within to pass? Does it need a repair/ticketed welder to have done it,.
  19. Is Chassis wrapping a certifiable/vinnable mod? For those that dont know its basically welding additional plating onto your chassis on cars that have hydros etc.
  20. Im goign to tauranga on sat potentially if you havent got anyone else sorted.
  21. True thats not bad, and can i drop straight in without much else (excuse the ignorance im new to this v8 thing, used to jappas lol)
  22. Have also thought about doing on my 283 although not sure its worth the cost as its only going to be a cruiser anyways.....But if itl make a decent difference its probably worth doing.
  23. Im heading from up these ways to Tokoroa via Matamata tomorrow night if you can pick up tomorrow night?
