Those are some decent numbers. No doubt there is more in it too. We need more sooty merc love here.. the om612 in my farm hack is making about 170kw with the same 320cdi vnt turbo. I wish there was more support for them here in NZ, everyone is too scared to tutu..

So 900nm of torque...what is that like with the camper going up hills? Is there even a slight uptick in revs or is it like it's on the flat still?

Depends on the hill, but it mostly doesn't down shift on cruise control, it definitely doesn't slow down. You can also over take up hills if want, much to others surprise hahaha

Are log vs tuned length turbo headers a thing on diesels? 

I figure that a log may build boost quicker because there is less volume to fill before the turbo gets moving, but probably lose a bit of flow up top compared to equal or more equal length manifolds

I use that reasoning to justify my own use of cast iron log manifolds, because I'm lazy, ha

This was what Richard holdener found with dyno testing. 

Log=good, especially on motors that don't pull stratospheric RPMs.

Definitely, and you are right, logs usually help spool, not only because of the smaller volume but also because of the extra thermal mass, that once up to temp, steals less heat on transient response.

Tubular headers will definitely make more peak hp but that is largely irrelevant for most of us, they also are more prone to cracking.

Let's not forget how much more convenient packaging is with logs. 

Tldr: logs good, turn up the boost.

Aside from the American propaganda, Europe is actually reasonablely legislated in some respects, ie, unbraked trailers don't need a safety chain. 

 

I will say though you missed commenting on my homemade drawbar extension which IS actually illegal here...
