So seeing as it now has a fresh wof and not needing anything at the moment, I decided to give it a treat.

 

we had some laminate flooring sitting in the garage for the last 18months, so why not put it to use haha

Took this on another grasskhana today with Pukekohe car club.

im over the single spinner life. 
 

must look into options for 2 wheel peels atleast on grass anyway.

 

it has the power, the handling, the braking performance, now it just needs traction. 

love getting this thing on full lock to lock

 

open to suggestions on diffs.

i have an escort English diff sitting in my workshop that you can buy all bits for (lsd, gear sets, upgraded axles etc). 
 

do i bother going 4 link like a escort clubman kit or stick with the leaves?

Sooooo since we have no work still, we’ve been pissing about on the mk5.

 

still need to get a full exhaust system and all coolant hoses along with a heater core.

 

but we have sorted the majority of the body work and have started sanding it down. (The worker has been sanding haha).

2 dents on the roof (they will push out)

1 ding on the boot lid

drivers door has a few minor dingers

and the only other one is in the lower rear corner that I’ll try and pull out.

its a factory white car, so will respray it white.

Sanding all the things. 
there are surprisingly very few dings on this, less than a dozen small fingers, but 3 larger ones.

Got 2 coats of high build on today.

let that set up for 24hrs or so before blocking back.

 

then it’ll be a throw down of ritey titey whitey

Decided I needed to lay on more primer, 3 coats went on today and I’ll flat it back with 600 tomorrow.

then it’s white out time.

there are still a couple of bits that I should’ve found but I’m over it now and it just needs colour and completion to get out of the shop. 
 

most of these bits will cut out with the 600. 
 

it’s a shame that all of the out window seals are buggered

Finally back together.

 

paint finish is meh.

will eventually need a cut n polish.

Fugh me, gave it its first wash after paint.

had to take the calipers of the hunter so that the Tina has any kind of usable brake.

stops mint.

then I decided to yeet the modgies and put the escort wheels on it.

wow boy, looking sweet as a nut now.

 

then we even got the spotties working.

well mostly. 

time for a wof check now. 
drove it up and down the road a few times, mixtures were shite so adjusted that and it started to run quite good.

it does pop out of 3rd but I’m sure that’s just the carpet pushing it out. I need to trim that back.

 

Does need an alignment though. Wof check first.

Cortina is sold!!! Yay I have floor space again.

 

now I can get the bagged chassis off my hoist and back on the floor so I can get my fab table back. 
about bloody time
