Threeonthetree's Leyland P76 Tribute of coffee table

I've always wanted to build a coffee table utilising an engine in a Vee configuration.

But I don't like coffee.

Or tables.

Still, thought I'd build it because I like to put my feet up when I sit on the couch.

Take one times Rover V8 engine. This one cames from a Leyland P76 and is a 4.4 Litre version.

So it's a high(er) performance table than your average run-of-the-mill 3500cc twin SU crabbed V8 and has more torque, as evidenced in the following photo. Such power, blew the rest of the car away. And snapped my right ankle.

It was a bit too yuck to keep in the lounge, so I gave it a homejob sandblasting.

It came out looking okay, but definitely needed more work.

Sandblasted and powdercoated the engine.

I went for a matte clear finish. I originally thought about leaving the bores unpainted and honing them.

But eventually decided to blast and clearcoat them too.

It came out looking better than new.

The frostplugs were left in place because I think they look pretty damn good.

Plus the block won't crack if the lounge freezes. Win win.

Just personally.. I want to see 8 pistons.

Hmmm...

You could be on to something here.

I'm yet to see one with this layout, but picturing it in my head (with staggered conrod placement) it looks good.

Colour changing LED? For Ford/Holden/Mopar/Leyland/Oil-stained appearance.
