oil coolers and thermostats advice

so i have been looking around at coolers, engine and power steering namely, just wanted to see what people have used and if they have monitored there temperatures before and after etc.

 

i am looking at fitting a oil cooler for the power steering and one from the engine, but i don't want to over kill it with size and then possabily over cool the oil's. i have been goggling but have not found much in the way of thermostats for either the power steering or the engine.

 

i don't know enough about aftermarket fitment so i am not sure on what i need to look for when building my system , any help would be appreciated.

Oil thermostats sure do exist, look for inline ones. They used to fit them to race MGBs.

Rotary oil coolers from say s4? onwards have a thermal pallet in the cooler (so oil bypasses until up to temp.). Heaps of info on them online if you wish to search them out. Just an idea

Not a fan of sandwhich plates but you can get these if it suits placement on your car:

You can get inline thermos with an oil filter relocation kit etc.

 

Unsure about power steering thermo but could just use lines like a lot of factory cars have.

I wouldn't bother with a thermostat for power steering. No advantage to having warm PS fluid. A small trans cooler would be plenty to keep it cool.

I was looking at my Ford telstar, it just has a peace of steel tube bent in a loop infront of the rad for a PS oil cooler, no thermostat in there.
