Borgweiser
Nice job on the mount rebuild, last time I encountered this problem I substituted the mounts for Benz ones. Like this https://www.mountshop.co.nz/shopdisplayitem.asp?category=23&master_group=8&item=23A005 Worth a shot next time, the 202 mounts fit basically everything Clean the engine breather before giving it too much death, seen a few of these spit oil out everywhere coz of a solid blocked mesh
RUNAMUCK
Just saw this thread. My mum has a GLE. I think it runs Pugot mounts. If you need an bits, there's a guy in Tauranga who fiends these cars.
Slacker_Sam.
I did see some Pug mounts that could possibly work. I'll see how long my home made ones last I'll keep that guy in mind. Meanwhile at slacker_sam's house.......
Nimmo
As the owner of a 2500TC who's been looking at 360GLT's and wondering how good they could be.. very impressed. Might have missed it but did you chuck any epoxy putty or similar over the holes in the mounts?
Slacker_Sam.
I find the Volvo bucket loads of fun. It towed my Triumph from Nelson to Motueka easy as. I had a few funny looks as the Volvo is so small compared to the Trump. I was going to put some rivets in the holes as they are only 3.5mm but in my haste / laziness I didn't. The sikaflex hasn't come squirting out the holes though, I gave it plenty of time to fully cure before I fitted them.
durty
Yeah, the sikaflex pretty much ends up as a solid rubber sort of stuff so doesnt need holes filled
BlownCorona
if your still keen on some sweet 14" rims, the GTti speedline rims that ed/orion had offered up for sale would set this off so well with some more low. 4x100 i think you said your car was?
durty
they would sit mega inboard on one of these, especially on the front
Slacker_Sam.
Yea I need 4x100's with a 0 or negative offset, a hard thing to find as I have a budget of sweet fcuk all. Lowering is almost out of the question in the front sadly as the inner guard is only around 60mm away from the wheel as it is.
durty
yeah, best way is to go for 13s with a small tyre then lower till guard is in line with the tyre, will have like an inch travel though. Rear can take 2 inch blocks and be pretty much perfect height. Also don't need U bolts, just need 2 inch longer bolts. mine cost me $16 or so for 8 with nyloc nuts from a bolt shop
BlownCorona
a set of 13" minilights could look nice on this with tiny tires
Slacker_Sam.
Yes yes! dished mini lites. There is a few on trademe but they are out of my price range. 1 Day i'll come across something.
BlownCorona
whats your wheel price range out of curiosity? totally understand the whole sourcing epic wheels for fuck all money. it can be done, just need to wait for the deals to roll around
Slacker_Sam.
haha that's a really good question. Really I would want to keep it under $200 but as close to $0 as possible. As much as I love sweet rims, I also really hate spending money on rims.
Slacker_Sam.
Just bought these 15x8s, 0pt offset, with tyres. Got them cheap as. I have no idea if they are going to fit but thats all part of the fun. If they do fit I'll be getting some springs made up from cobra & some blocks in the back. Slacker_Sam.
Shit! The tyres are too wide & rub on everything. So im in need of some 195-50s so clear all the stuff. pics
Slacker_Sam.
Ok so after some stuffing around I've found some smaller-ish tyres. 185-55s for the front & 195-55s for the rear. I wanted 195-50's but couldn't find any for a reasonable price. needed a bit of rolling. Now wondering if I should bother lowering it. Slacker_Sam.
I made this chin spoiler at a cost of $5. I like the ones on trademe but couldn't justify spending $200. Yellow headlight tint should be showing up in a few days.
Slacker_Sam.
I had lots of time on my hands today leading to this:
Guest Slacker_Sam.
Volvo has had some major neglect. I haven't washed it for ages, been used as a tool box/van/ute/tow vehicle. I had to take the rear mags off as when towing a load they sit hard against the rear guards (looks totally sweet though.) I havn't got around to re-fitting them. Also I Scored a B230E Motor & trans. Not sure if I'll fit it yet though as its non turbo. Filth:
