BS5620
I'm after a favour here. I'm looking for the lengths of both Anglia and Mk2 Cortina Track control arms if anyone is able to help with either! Measurement from centre of where it mounts in crossmember out to the Ball Joint pin. I have done the googley searchs but have revealed nothing yet!!! Does anyone know what uses the same ball joint pin taper as a Mk2 Cortina?? I think they have an Imperial Taper
felixx
I can go measure my 105e anglia one later, however put a post on 105speed.com, there are a couple of anaoraks on there who will help you out
BS5620
Would be cool if you could thanks. Cheers I'll try there too Thanks
Unclejake
Mk2 Cortina arms are definitely longer. Anglia racers used to use the Cortina arm to get more negative camber... I don't know dimensions though sorry What are you up to BS5620?
BS5620
Hey UJ Putting Rack in pinion in my Mk1 Cortina. Have used starlet gear, with mk2 Struts. Luckly certifier picked up on movement where Starlet lower arms go into Mk2 Struts. Need to sort this issue but having problem between Imperial and Metric tapers.. Want to run some of those adjustable escort TCAs that are on Trademe. So might see wether engineers can bore out tapers to suit!!! Mission continues
Unclejake
Whoa! Rack and Pinion into a Mk1 Cortina is a noble pursuit. Get some suitable shim steel wrapped around those tapers son. It will rule. I might even have some suitable shim in stock/perhaps I completely mis-understand the scenario ....it is a bit confusing: Have you got an imperial male taper flopping around inside a metric female taper? BS5620
You understand the situation completely. Mk2 cortina struts I have been told are Imperial and Escort/Starlet ones on the TCA are metric. But with my rudemetry mathematics (SOH CAH TOA) and measurement I make the angle of the two tapers to be the same... Shim stock is a boomer idea. Will be a cost effective fix, cheers for the suggestion. The R&P is good, just small hold ups like this, I'm so close I can smell it. anglia4
My half arsed slightly rough measurements put the Anglia length at ~355-360 from center of inner mounting to rough center of ball joint. Mk2 Cortina is ~380.
Valiant
Send your arms to HBI engineering and get them to make a new Starlet ball but with an imperial taper to suit your Mk2 struts.
Unclejake
Shim steel I have probably got more shim steel than I will use in my lifetime, so holla if you want some posted down. I approve of your project and there will be no charge (but I can't send it until nek week) UJ
