Brennan
Looking at drooping a 1uzfe auto or a 2jzge auto in the 1985 cressida when the corolla is road legal. But not to sure if it is worth doing as the diffs are so weak? On the chassis plate on the firewall it says "6/5" under the driveline section. but nothing specifically about diffs. Have tried to do some research but nothing seems to make sense. So, what are the chances it has a f series independent rear? and if it does how strong it it up against a 1uzfe auto highway cruiser?? Anybody know ?? Thanks
Spencer
SO I assume its NZ new with that on the chassis tag? Should be F series then and will hold up sweet, altezza LSD would be the go
Brennan
sweet thanks and yes NZ new. do they have a tag on the diff or something? never noticed one before, Really keen to keep it as its so nice to drive, but have noticed the diff has been a little loose lately, but hopefully its nothing a altezza lsd cant fix. drftnmaz
im pretty sure you can upgrade to G series head and stuff but the sub-frame is harder to find... altessa lsd's are only really good if you have lots of suspension travel, if its stiff and going to un-load(lift) one wheel sometimes then torsen diffs are not much use... however there are a few options for decent clutch plate lsd's around... ryanfels
G series IRS diffs for these came in the Jap spec turbo models so good luck finding one of them. I had a F series with a TRD lsd behind my 2jzgte and never had any problems so you will be fine
Spencer
Yea good luck finding a G series subframe. There are plenty of cars with hearty JZ's and F series diffs holding up just fine, G series would be somewhat overkill in this situation. I suggested the Altezza diff because its cheap, my MZ10 track hack was fairly stiff and lowered and would never lift a wheel, it was perfect for track work & grip. Look to something clutch if you want to do skids
Brennan
Won't be doing skids in this one (well not often) so Dosnt have to be bulletproof. Just a reliable daily that can fly past others on the open road. Really just asking as have heard of guys around palmy snapping axels frequently with there jz turbos. Cheers guys
Spencer
Yea well they must be animals haha. I would think th only problem for you would be spitting the factory spider gears doing the odd skid. Altezza LSD for cheap will fix this, otherwise spend abit more on a clutch LSD which will take more abuse again
ta63-1uzze
i would love one of them g series, i am worried about my drive shaft, axels, and stub axels , all i think won’t like the amount of torque i will get from my motor combo . . . but will have to cross that bridge when i get there
Roman
If i had my time again id go torsen over current clutch type. (Cusco) too noisy and may as well be a locker. [Old man forums]
