Iridium Lid
hey has anybody on the forums put the mighty pinto into a hillman avenger ? I'll be pulling mine out of the cortina sometime and have been getting ideas for a new daily driver that I could put the pinto in. The obvious choice would be an escort. But they aren't going for as cheap as most people suggest they should be. Thats why I thought an avenger would be perfect! Their light as hell, maybe even more so than an escort. Also I think the driveshaft is even compatible with the sierra 5 speed? Cheers in advance
Yowzer
The driveshaft is indeed. Mash it in there.

Avenga
I have a 5 speed sierra in my Avenger. I have an Avenger Alpine 1500cc engine in mine with dual dellorto's etc. We have a member over on the Avenger forum who is just doing a SR20DE conversion in an Avenger More details here http://www.avenger.co.nz/forum/index.php?topic=275.
Avenga
The drive shaft of an Avenger is the same spline as the sierra gearbox also. With my gearbox conversion I used an Avenger auto bellhousing and a spacer then it all just bolts up fine. you can even use the standard Avenger clutch etc. For more info on the sierra conversion, read here http://www.avenger.co.nz/forum/index.php?topic=60.
sholdowa
One of the lads at my old motor club road rallied one. It went rather well... front sus needs beefing up for the extra weight though.

Iridium Lid
I live in the Hutt. I would hope I could pick something reasonable up for under 3k
R100
Diffs are pretty strong in them too. Drove my 13B supercharged avenger for 8 months on the standard diff befor i sold it. Never killed it. Used to do a few nite speed drag war runs in it too.
Yowzer
I have heard the diffs are quite strong, but my brothers one managed to blow both the diff and the gearbox on the standard engine.
Borgweiser
Guts, just sold my Auto GLS Avenger the other day. It would have been perfect for this conversion. Will hit the guy up, it's his first car and hes bound to blow the motor or transmission soon. It and I also in lower Hutt
