  1. So something like this then.... http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-ca ... 731197.htm Did you have much trouble converting from fwd to rwd?
  2. Awesome thanks for the quick reply. Sounds like the go and modifying the driveshaft shouldnt be too much hassle. Also would the diff be okay? Maybe upgrade to sigma discs? Just had a good look through your 4g63 lancer posts. Well done.
  3. Which 4g63 would be the best to purchase in order to go into a 16l Colt. In other words.. If you were to buy a vehicle that was stock 4g63 sohc carb, in order to rip out the 5 speed and engine and be more or less bolt in. What would be the best bet i.e sigma's, l200 , l300 or do they all share the same trans/engine combo?... I know you need the engine mounts from an l200.. But would the l200 five speed go in without any hassles. Hope my question makes sense haha
  4. Found a driveshaft for 40 bucks. But the guy says its off a cortina wagon. Can anybody tell me if this would fit a sedan?. I imagine it wouldnt. Cheers
  5. The reason being, it looks to have been installed poorly the first time. Only set up to accomodate 2 bolts (only 2 bolt holes have thread and those are both different). Rookie mistake not noticing this when I bought it. Drove it from Christchurch to wellington absolutely fine. Got back, was driving around not long after and those 2 poor bolts just quit on me. The bolts themselves were completely rooted. Long story short. Either way im going to be having to do somewhat minor repairs. Would just feel better cutting out the spacer while i've got a chance. Unless of course I can set that spacer up PROPERLY and it will cost me less then replacing driveshaft. But yeah, until I get under there and take some pictures etc I wont truly know what I'll be doing.
  6. Should be getting my hands on a new Trolley jack this week (finally). So watch this space
  7. Nah it was definitely a 2.0. I'll get a couple of pictures up here for you guys to check out as soon as I can. Also if anyone has a mk3/4/5 driveshaft lying about theres a good chance i'll be happy to buy that. If that is gonna be my solution of course.
  8. Wouldn't be the 5 speed sierra bringing it back a couple of inches less than the original 4 speed would it?
  9. Interesting. Its a mk3 1976. However out of the 4 bolt holes only 2 have thread which makes me think it isnt factory ... it has fallen off on me and I'll be needing to get rid of it so I can bolt straight up to the diff.
  10. Hi there, just wondering why there would be an adapter plate bolted between the driveshaft of my cortina and diff. The cortina has sierra 2L and 5 speed. The adapter plate is a couple of inches thick. Does this mean its not a cortina driveshaft? Which I thought would be long enough to not need anything like that. Is the sierra driveshaft a few inches shorter? ...Forgot to mention the drive shaft is a one piece
  11. I live in the Hutt. I would hope I could pick something reasonable up for under 3k
  12. Well I'm Convinced. Now just gotta keep my eyes out for an avenger.
  13. hey has anybody on the forums put the mighty pinto into a hillman avenger ? I'll be pulling mine out of the cortina sometime and have been getting ideas for a new daily driver that I could put the pinto in. The obvious choice would be an escort. But they aren't going for as cheap as most people suggest they should be. Thats why I thought an avenger would be perfect! Their light as hell, maybe even more so than an escort. Also I think the driveshaft is even compatible with the sierra 5 speed? Cheers in advance
  14. Hmmm, I know its not a v6 but does anyone know about doing a falcon 4.1 I6 swap? Im pretty sure they came stock in tinas across the ditch..
  15. Thanks, all good advice. Also open to any other lazy v6 options for a mk3 cortina ...
