Testament Posted February 21, 2012 Share Posted February 21, 2012 GM Gen III/Gen IV small block v8 LS1/LS2/LS3/LQ4/LQ9/etc. etc. etc. they are good. you can probably get the engine for $4k but putting it in will be a bit more and depends what transmission you are attaching to. christophski Posted February 27, 2012 Share Posted February 27, 2012 I've owned a vr ss commodore and sold it to buy another vl with a dirty 30 in it. the 5lt v8 was disapointing after owning a string of rb's. the 8 is good for 2 things, towing and stopping your boat floating away.
