corey_jorg
am interested in doing a steering box to rack conversion in my rwd 323 hatch to get rid of the ugly box, just wondering what a suitable rack would be to use? must be on the firewall side of xmember/wheel centres. not to sure but what side are these cars: rwd mk1/2 escort viva chevette or are there any other options? we dont have a pick-a-part here in christchurch so cant go and measure cars up. Gaz
Ive done one in Cortina using escort. Alot of people use the Hillman Hunter rack and I have heard of the DX style Corolla ones being used a bit also. Gaz
Valiant
The best bet is to swap a whole front end. Subframe, rack, struts etc. Otherwise it can be messy. Escort has a front rack.

Gaz
Its pretty hardcone as you have to get the Ackerman angles all right otherwise bump steer central will apply. Gaz
corey_jorg
bump steer prob isnt an issue, is going in my project that will never be road legal, or driven very far. sits very low so will have bumpsteer anyway. a good mate is using a starlet one in his 808 wagon but didnt conclude any futher from that so just seeing if anyone has done or is looking into doing the swap. just would like my engine bay to look that little bit tidier and also allow for more room for the exhaust setup. and yea ausrotary has info but they havent optioned all the different makes and models there is out there. just that someone used a commodore one cut down and a 121 steering column so thats how you "have" to do it. sentra
theres a pile more in depth info on there somewhere, the search on ausrotary blows though, it may have been under user buildups or something that you have to be logged in?
