mad_max
Ive got an ex show car which has a 12v to 230v inverter in it. It seems to be going but no power?? Its hooked up correctly and the green light is on to say its going (as opposed to the red for fault). I have plugged heaps into it to test but nothings working, It did run a tv and playstation so I dont know whats wrong with it Any ideas? UTERUS
Don't go pulling it apart with it on either. Chuck your location in your profile too homie, then a friendly local might be able to help
mad_max
Na not any fuses. Theyre all good. Will try and borrow a multimeter and see whats getting a current. I thought normally the lights that say its going are normally at the end of the circuit to say the points getting power. Just doesnt make sense to me Will put location in profile Cheers
Yowzer
It's probably buggered. Remove and implement the healing power of a 8lb sledgehammer. Also, tvs belong in houses, not cars.
mad_max
Why even comment if your going to be a wanker. I was just asking in case someone had had the same issue or its a common problem with an easy fix. Comment things that actually interest you or you can help with or get a life
keltik
Tbh theres not really much serviceable shit in an inverter. Does it make a humm when you turn it on and hook up a load? Most common fault with mine was me forgetting to turn the power switch on. Then i filled it full of sump oil and coolant, still goes but not quite as well. Inverters, how the fuck do they work?.... UTERUS
Mash a multimeter on a/c setting in the 230v end then turn it on, if no voltage is coming out then there isn't much you can do. If you get really excited, feel free to send it to me (Napier) and i'll see what it's upto.

UTERUS
There may be fuseable links inside the unit that let go for some reason, filtering caps that go open/short circuit, or even a wire has casually fallen off.
Yowzer
I have been dealing with inverters for the past 3 years. If they don't go, they're usually fucked. 9/10 times it's cheaper to replace than repair. also Why even comment if you're going to be a wanker.
