Big up date.

Scored two 711m's one a block only needed rebuild and head, the other a complete with worked cam.

Spent xmas eve lifting out the 1300cc. All went well.

Lifted the 1600cc into engine bay. First problem was the steering rack touching the sump. Dropped that out and then it touched the subframe. Dropped that down and finally slotted it into place. Bolted up gearbox. Had trouble refitting the rack, couldn't get the steering rod into the steering box. Forced finally helped.

Now the engine mounts didn't quite line up. After much swearing and pissing around and wishing I had a MK2 subframe, I managed to redrill the subframe where the mount needs to go.

If I get a chance tomorrow I just need to refit carbs and manifold. Will have to get exhaust lowered 20mm as now touches underneath of body when workshops reopen.

Will have to chance the engine mounts. The sump just rests on the subframe. If I use slightly wider rubber mounts it will clear.

On a happier note, now has new Monroes on the rear. Have MK2 Capri front struts and brakes to replace the drums up front.

Finally got the Weber sorted. Took off the water choke on a DGAV 32/36. Fitted it and it went bloody great except for at idle it surged from 800rpm to 1300rpm. Found out that there are four holes under the choke but only three screws hold it on the carb. One hole is a vent. By blocking off this hole it has stopped the idle surging.
