Bantam
The beast still has drums up front! Whats a cheap disc upgrade? Do MK2 escort or cortina struts fit or try to get MK1.
My name is Russell
Yup Mk2 is probably easiest. Retain your mk1 top hats for the new struts. Mk1 is imperial & Mk2 metric, so you require a mk2 steering rack as the taper on ball joints dont get along. The rest is fairly straight forward. Unsure on master cylinder size of a drum escort but might require upgrading also.

NaN
you could spend hours polishing the inlet, but there are varying thoughts on the effect of porous inlets. Some people think the pockets allow air to form a cushion to flow over.
My name is Russell
atomisation also?

Bantam
Big up date. Scored two 711m's one a block only needed rebuild and head, the other a complete with worked cam. Spent xmas eve lifting out the 1300cc. All went well. Lifted the 1600cc into engine bay. First problem was the steering rack touching the sump. Dropped that out and then it touched the subframe. Dropped that down and finally slotted it into place. Bolted up gearbox. Had trouble refitting the rack, couldn't get the steering rod into the steering box. Forced finally helped. Now the engine mounts didn't quite line up. After much swearing and pissing around and wishing I had a MK2 subframe, I managed to redrill the subframe where the mount needs to go. If I get a chance tomorrow I just need to refit carbs and manifold. Will have to get exhaust lowered 20mm as now touches underneath of body when workshops reopen. Bantam
I forgot to say I've being running the 1300cc with the 32/36 weber. Being great but after riding in a few 1600cc's it had to go
Raizer
You have a Cortina sump on it, swap it for a 1600 Escort one or beat a 1300 sump to clear the rods.
Bantam
The sump has had some work on it with a hammer. Came out of a MK1 Escort.
Bantam
Will have to chance the engine mounts. The sump just rests on the subframe. If I use slightly wider rubber mounts it will clear. On a happier note, now has new Monroes on the rear. Have MK2 Capri front struts and brakes to replace the drums up front.

Bantam
Finally got the Weber sorted. Took off the water choke on a DGAV 32/36. Fitted it and it went bloody great except for at idle it surged from 800rpm to 1300rpm. Found out that there are four holes under the choke but only three screws hold it on the carb. One hole is a vent. By blocking off this hole it has stopped the idle surging.
