Ned
So my LS400 with 1UZ isn't able to do skids when it's warm. But when it's cold it can. BUT when it's warm it does still have enough power to make it step out if i'm up in the revs a bit. Could this be explained by a gearbox problem at all? Not too clued up about auto boxes etc (and would love to put a W58/R154 in it) but was talking to Cam about it earlier and wanted some input from you lot.... Anyone know if this could be a gearbox fuck up and how to check/diagnose?
Yowzer
The A340E is a pretty solid box really. Usually if something goes wrong with them they fuck out completely. http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showth ... take-a-nap)
UTERUS
Try upping the line pressure first, it's explained in that thread i'm pretty sure. Although, my car was reluctant to do skids when warm anyway. Get creative with your neutral-drive flicks.
Spencer
pretty much zero chance its the box If the box has nice shifts in the correct places and doesnt slip its pretty much sweet
CaMpylobacter
fuck i love ned's posts. 'help me do skids'
Ned
It's a help me find out where my power is so that when i attempt to merge with traffic, i'm not slower than a cyclist. Skids is just the easiest way to see if it has power
lou
So does it just bog down completely when you give it the jandle?
Ned
Give it throttle and is just "Meh, i'm not doing that!" and will just act like a snail until it hits 3000 rpm and then it comes to life.
lou
so half throttle has more power sort of thing? I'm assuming you checked for a miss fire and what not?
Ned
Firing on all 8 and compression test was good. Does sound like it has an exhaust leak possibly on the passenger side :/ Thought it was missing at first but individually removed each lead when running and all were going. 1/2 trottle doesn't have more power i don't think, it just says no until it gets up to 3000rpm :/

Ned
Tried to hollow them out in the weekend but they didn't feel like coming off so worked on Cams AE instead. CRCed the bolts up and will try again after bike summit
UTERUS
Have you bypassed the fuel pump resistor faggotry yet.
Spencer
DOUBT IT Got a service manual and done a few tests from the diagnostic port like was suggested? you can quickly bypass the fuel pump controller there. You can also see if the car is over compensating for a long term lean or rich condition due to faulty o2 sensors or a vacuum leak etc by reading a couple of pins.
