Truenotch
There's a blue MK2 with a 7AFE? Haven't seen a beams one around here but it would be cool & you're probably right. Yes it can be done and would be the same difficulty as any Beams conversion into an old car. So you need: Engine, Gearbox, Factory engine + box mounts, Loom, ECU, Extractors, Driveshaft (to make a new one from) Then you'll need to make engine mounts fit which should be relatively straight forward if everything fits. The hard part will be wiring and fuelling.
Spencer
All depends on your skill level, wiring shouldnt be a problem just budget in a link unless you want to put all the RWD beams bits onto a Red top Beams. These have a easier computer to wire up (altezza one needs the dash and ignition to work) Appart from the usual stuff Markuu has pointed out, specifically for your car the sump on a beams just wont fit. The beams sump has a alloy top with a pressed steel bowl, I'd say you will have to make up a custom steel sump. Also I would say the gearbox tunnel will be tight
4evaevo
what is a strong 4link rear end that is good for a cotina?
rxtoy
Also note that the beams sump has internal oil galleries and a pressure regulating valve. Makes custom sumps that much more difficult. A mate welded up an alloy one for mine though, and we're just running the pressure regulator externally. Not sure if all beams are like this, I just know mine was. Altezza blacktop. Gaz
what is a strong 4link rear end that is good for a cotina? Start with a hilux diff and then custom 4 link parts required. There is no easy/best option for a mk2 Cortina unless you want to pay heaps and buy parts from Burton power and have someone wled them on.. mjrstar
check the height as well, theyre a tall engine. This, My mate started a project a few years ago, he has the beams mounted in his mk1 cortina, the throttle body is full of traction control wizardry and there is bugger all clearance for cam covers.. Project is on hold as he has gone to the UK for a bit...
