wickmyster
What are the fattest tyres for 15x6 and 15x8 rims I can get, within reason, 275s go on the 8s but look a bit ballony and would prob handle like crap. I,m thinking 225-235/60s on the 6s and 245-265/60s on the 8s any thoughts? What would look/handle best?
UTERUS
What are they going on? Massive difference between a small hatch and a big wagon etc. Also depends on how low your car is etc, what look you are after/like.
Simon
Balloon tyres don't handle. Are they going on a trailer? Usually you want to select the correct tyre for the rim. I don't quite know why you are after bulge.
wickmyster
I want this look for my XA coupe. http://www.usmuscle.com.au/Forum/attach ... 1241391399 http://img852.imageshack.us/i/120727761full.jpg/ http://img816.imageshack.us/i/mustang15x82956015s.jpg/ This mustang has 295/60 15s on it, but I dont want that big. 225 and 255 on the 6 and 8s will not have the bulge look, and I am going for the ride height of the XA. Testament
they will have bulge compared to what alot of people on this site consider flat or streched. but your more concerned about the sidewall height if I read your post right? so you want 225 and 255 widths but with the same overall diameter as the 295's? 295/60/15 = 735mm 255/70/15 = 738mm 225/75/15 = 718.5mm man those are pretty much 4x4 tyre sizes. the old spare on my jeep was a 225/75/15 and that was on a 15x7 and definitely had some bulge. wickmyster
Yeah, but 60s are a lot lower profile than 75 and less sidewall will mean less bulge. Heap of people in America are running similar size tyres on their mustangs stock rims. When I get some extra cash, I should get the 6s widened to 10s , depending if the offset of the 8s fit on the front of my coon.
fuel
the second number (ie 60, 75) in the tyre size is the aspect ratio for the sidewall, ie 65% of the width. A 60 profile tyre may still have a larger diameter than a 75 series tyre if it's a much bigger width.
Jase
food for thought that^, on a six 205/65 max, on an eight 265's? i like the bigs an lils drag car look a lot at the moment, not too sure about wide rims with balloon unless its absolutely slammed and they're super low profile tires. wickmyster
Yeah, I am considering 55s on the back, just they are not all that common anymore...Coopers are not being super helpful either BFGs are 315 each for either size... just checking my options. Refer to pics in my 1 of my posts for the look i want
