EFI_LC
have you sprayed engine start around the inlet manifold and base of carb? This will tell you straight away if you have a vac leak as the engine will rise in revs.

barf
90% of carb problems are electrical try another ignition coil if you have one handy, in my experience a weak spark can cause starting problems and symptom of only running when you put your foot up it only to backfire, stumble and/or stall. hope this helps. anhonyb
anyone got a stromberg cd150 carb i can buy?
Yowzer
Possibly, but the one you currently have is most likely better. Just take it to a carbie shop and get it reconditioned.
forced
Strombergs are just like SUs in that they need oil in the top and don't have an accelerator pump. The stromberg's diaphragm can split and they won't work. With the SU at least you've got to seat the jet/needle correctly otherwise if not centred correctly it won't go either because it sticks. The trick is to make sure the piston goes up (with your finger) and drops all the way to the bottom without getting stuck. Steve
