  2. Got widened steels back today so stoked new size 13x8.5" Anyone got tyre hookups??? 175/50/13s please universal method of measuring dish
  3. I feel the same way haha, possible fix for blow head gasket... drain cooling system
  4. the head gasket was blown for who knows how long, It was running along with no water not overheating?, noticed it had none in there one night so I topped it up (engine was dead cold) next time i started white smoke starts pluming out the back. It still runs is just completelyi fucked.. top speed 5Kms etc. new engine ended up being relatively cheap so coilovers may still be on
  5. coilovers are possibly cancelled as engine = dead another engine on the way
  6. 13x5.5 steelies sent for widening to 13x8.5 coilovers are coming around xmas time
  7. does it adjust by the handbrake? my mk2 golf didnt have those star wheel thingys on the drums too, turns out they are up by the handbrake lever
  8. $800 later.. pink sticker removed, vtnz wof complete
  9. well its vtnz to remove a pink sticker, they were pretty harsh and the fail list was a mile long
  10. does the rear windscreen washer need to work for wof?
  11. I'm now the proud owner of this car although it no longer has the low or the wheels due to a pink sticker. Had to take it to vtnz for wof, had quite a long list most of it is bullshit as little things that no one really cares about. Main things to fix: excessive play L/F wheel, rear brake performance and pedal too soft, headlights out of focus. Already fixed: windscreen washer, L/R wheel bearing rough, R/F excessive play, Secure left seat???(it didnt really move at all), no back seatbelts(they were under the back seat) and someother stuff I cant remember now. Coilovers going in next month sometime for extra low, widened wheels also next month
  12. that wet paper trick worked perfectly for me just the other day
  13. Hey, iv just changed mk5 cortina wagon from automatic to 5 speed with a rebuilt 2l pinto, Im getting some sparking problems, the points will spark when the key is turned on and i touch with a screwdriver but they dont spark when i turn the engine over
  14. a lot of googling and I've found something that will help, doesnt seem to be too hard tbh only need a few wires from the loom http://imageshack.us/f/466/electronicdizzywireingdiagram4.gif/
  15. yeah its the big silver box thing, need a diagram or something i think
  16. I got the motor and stuff a few days ago, its got a motorcraft ecu box thing, with the model number 85GB-12A297-CB on it and a wiring loom I've only managed to figure out 4 of the wires so far, one plugs into the dizzy, one goes to a sensor on the underside of intake, one goes to oil pressure and the other goes to water temp. Theres still about 2 plugs and 4 other wires left, and a whole bunch of ones that have been cut does anyone know anything about these? Im just know its off a sierra
  17. This little package arrived at work today, its a lot more complete than I thought its got electronic ignition on it too which is awesome not sure about wiring it up though also came was a 5pseed gearbox and various other items, purchased a driveshaft for $40 too. I just require a flywheel, clutch, clutch cable, speedo cable and a manual pedal box to get this running
  18. kinda won this auction tonight http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =380445151 rebuilt pinto, 205 block so strong conrods etc, also comes with stuff for turbo.. will get that setup once my money regenerates from the purchase.. also 5 speed gearbox Plans are to chuck it in with standard inlet and zorst and run it with 5speed untill I've sorted out turbine related things
  19. haha your avatar fooled me, i had a few efforts at getting rid of the bug yeah i remember $500 being the rough price when i had to get em
  20. yup, its all just in the ideas phase atm, was just browsing trademe for a replacement engine as the ol' pinto is getting worse and worse at starting/huge bearing noises under any kind of load. probably just end up buying a pinto with a 5 speed already on and pop it in
  21. thanks for the info, im going to go check it out, he reckons the sump has been modified to fit an escort.. so perhaps it may squeeze in but as beaver said it should be a good starting point
  22. quick question, is it an easy job putting an engine made for an escort into a cortina? I could be possibly looking at buying this ca18det and 5 speed which has been modified to fit an escort.. just wondering if they are the same?
  23. thanks man, the suspension is all done and back in now just have to do rear brakes/handbrake and get me driveshaft modified for w50 gearbox and she will be on the road finally
  24. thanks for the heads up Actually, if you have it, I need an interior light lens cover, and the whole light for the boot is missing, nothing urgent but it would be good to just tidy up the loose ends
  25. Yeah i turned the key straight off and threw a massive bucket off water on pretty much as soon as it started.. hardly any damage at all, was pleased with the results. I was thinking of trying out some other colours for the wheels as its not too much of a hassle to change it. I've got a visor from my viva that could very easily be fitted to this so stay tuned might get a couple pics of it on very soon
