Ke36
hey guys trying to make a short shifter for my lancer just wondering is the square bit just above the red line in this pick there to hit the "gate" when you change into 5th gear?stopping you from hitting reverse when downchanging it would be easier to cut and weld below it but if it does do that i will need to cut and weld on the other side of it cheers
Vai-Man
I know on a old chevette it had a bit like that to stop it going into reverse insted of first so assume it is for 5th/reverse i wouldnt go cutting it lol

David
Been about 10 years since i've played with lancers but just wondering if you need to weld anything. I've done Hillman ones before and they have a nylon ball on the shaft with a pin holding it in place. So just need the hole in the shaft drilled about 4mm higher up the shaft and pined at that point. Then a 4mm spacer needs to be put between the selector mount and the box. A bit of alloy and a hole-saw made this plate nicely. I could be on the wrong track as the japa stuff could be different. The part your showing isn't what prevents the gearstick turning around?

lowlancer
I'm pretty sure it's what locks in when you press in for reverse
Ke36
ah sweet doesnt matter now as i cut above it to keep it the same distance from the ball anyways
