kpr Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 kinda boring update. but this is all fixed and running again. changed alot of stuff around. although nothing exciting to look at. new cusco engine mounts more heat sheilding redone turbo waterlines move steering rack forward to sort out over centering at high lock. new bottom end, its basically a smallport 4agze long block now, with trd head gasket to bump compression up into the 9's. arp rod bolts and balance, etc. done a few k's in it to run in. feels strong and not as lazy as i thought it would. will wind at least 15psi into it. 200kw at wheels should be easy. 1 Quote
kpr Posted March 25, 2012 Author Posted March 25, 2012 went to a drift day at hampton on sat. first day on a dry full track. car was handing real well. but had a some missfiring issues due to a dead plug. but managed to sort it and do a few decent runs. then ran out of tyres.some vids bro took: theres a few pics on blog also 1 Quote
kpr Posted September 15, 2012 Author Posted September 15, 2012 long time no update. just finished changing the cooling setup had the intercooler mounted like this. which sucked for flow to the radiator. even with ducting chopped up the intercooler again! welded on new feed pipes. still not the best way for the inlet/outlets. but no worse that what it was. mounted it here new twin fans new intake will upload more soon. 1 Quote
kpr Posted September 15, 2012 Author Posted September 15, 2012 half way through doing this. i discovered the long side of the bottom radiator tank, was restricted to about half. bottom pipe was welded on wrong. love those chinese products! blanking plates to stop air escaping out the side, plus new poser bonnet latch support existing tray, bolts to bottom of bumper bonnet seals off top hole fairly well. seems to work good on test run, kinda hard to beat down on it enough around here. but temp seems to stay around 82deg with fans off. running 17psi now. keeps frying the tyres in 3rd, which is making it hard to tune! might have to take it to dyno. 2 Quote
Popular Post kpr Posted May 31, 2014 Author Popular Post Posted May 31, 2014 Digging this up from the dead. After doing the above stuff almost 2 years ago. It sprung a leak in the sump, I got angry, done a skid up the road and parked it up. Still ain't fixed. Until today, pulled most of it apart , engine ready to come out. Plan is to fix gearbox and sump. then change a whole lot of other stuff that annoys me. Coupe Lyfe 19 Quote
kpr Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 mmm messy that's right i have actually done something. interior is about in the same state. Stinky old w-box was pretty close to pulling the trigger on a j160. but got a rebuild kit on the way from murica, for a good price. so will give it one more chance. in other news. inlet manifold is cracked again. whole new setup time im thinking. diff is leaky, maybe needs new pinion bearing also. sump is fixed! need to make another one of these too, boring stuff = boring update. 4 Quote
kpr Posted July 20, 2014 Author Posted July 20, 2014 gearbox rebuilt managed to rebuild the whole thing without a press. new bearings, syncro's, seals etc. above is my "special service tool" for getting 5th gear off the output shaft. Used some cheese chinese pullers and the one below, to get the rest apart. used to pull some of the gears/bearings back onto the shafts also, as below. seems to work on the bench. this is the "good condition w58" i brought off that shit kicker. still nothing too exciting happening so heres a skid. still looking for some blacktop throttles and a 2wd hilux driveshaft.. 4 Quote
