my escort issues with ecu

hey there,

time to pick your brains. i have a link g3 in a mk1 escort running a ford pinto sierra motor thats is turbod and injected ect.

its using a sierra electronic ignition dizzi for the crank pick up.

from what i can tell for one 360deg turn of crank the ecu will recieve to signals, altough simon says to set link on 1 tooth per tdc.

i would have thought it would be set to 2 teeth per tdc but i cant see that option.

i have had it running fairly sweet on this ecu but on thurs i took it to dyno and wont start, everything on scope is clean and consistant.

the spark is strong and it apairs to be firing on the marks, it may be firing too often?

it will nearly start then it kicks back and runs backwards with exhaust coming out the inlet of the turbo for a few seconds and then may kick forwards

again. i cant see this being healthy for the crank ect.

any thoughts on it? from what i can tell its got twice as many input signals as the link is looking for and then firing when the rotor is fired half way between the lead points and at random firing the most easy plug it can jump to...........

any thoughts will be great.....

You are triggering off the electronic dizzy? Sounds like its right - two triggers per 360degrees is what you would expect running individual coils. (dizzy runs at half engine speed, so every 720degrees on crank = 4 triggers)

Unless you are running wasted spark?

As far as i am aware, triggering once per revolution only works with wasted spark, as the ecu doesn't know which pair of cylinders are firing. This is when you run a crank wheel sensor etc.
