Unclejake Posted June 19, 2008 Share Posted June 19, 2008 Are you saying that the noise (and vibration??) are only on over-run? It won't be the thrust bearing if that is the case and is more likely the diff pinion bearing - which is sort of common on small Ford diffs. A diff head change should only take 90 minutes or so. shizzl Posted June 19, 2008 Share Posted June 19, 2008 my old rx7 did that,then one day i went for a drive and it went bang and you could hear the pinion spinning on the crownwheel. turned out the pinion bearing was buggered and caused the pinion teeth tips to wear out and there was nothing left to grab...luckily i was only 200m from home..
