Beaver
hey all. i just saw these on trademe, http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =125117461 and i was wondering if anyone can tell me if they will fit onto my 1725cc engine in my hunter. they are twin CD strombergs off hillman 1600. will it be an upgrade from my single carb? thanks
kyteler
Fuck, for $50 man, snap 'em up and try 'em out, worth a shot at the very least, if they don't work out then just sell them on TM again for $50.. no biggie.
Beaver
yeh i was thinking that a. is there much work involved in changing from single to dual carbs in terms of throttle linkage and fuel lines etc?
kyteler
Generally no, especially if it's cable throttle, because for the most part the length difference in a single and a twin on the same engine is fuckall and fuel lines under the bonnet can easily be extended if required with some fuel hose. The only thing that can sometimes prove annoying is the choke mechanism, but everything has a solution.
Toucan
Shouldn't be a change with the fuel line, usually attaches to one of the carbs as it would with a single then runs through to the next. In the pic the throttle linkage setup looks to be identical to how a single would be setup. Where abouts is the throttle linkage on your single carb? In the middle of the manifold? Go for it for 50, looks like they need a good clean though

Beaver
is it worth getting them, is there any advantage over a single carb? also, can anyone conform that the manifold will bold straight on? thanks
EFI_LC
is it worth getting them, is there any advantage over a single carb? also, can anyone conform that the manifold will bold straight on? thanks Side suckers are great as basically they only suck the amount of fuel/air they need so they self adjust for the mods you have done. Buy em you wont regret it and they sound better
Beaver
its already got a single side draught, so will i get better performance out of dual side draughts? also, what sort of filters should i be looking at? im on a low budget lol
HUNTD
The cast iron head manifold has the ports closer together where as the alloy head has evenly spaced holes, il try and draw a pic 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 alloy 0-0 - 0-0 cast iron
Beaver
so if i have a cast head, they will bolt straight on? thanks
