Guest WESTCORT
So at the moment it looks like ill be running the 1300 radiator until i get a bigger one from somewhere. What i need advice on is what to do with the electric fan im using? Should i just put it on a switch and leave it on all the time? is there some sort of thermo relay i can get from another car to suit? And should i just leave the viscous fan on there for extra cooling? If i got a 1300 radiator recored would that be good enough to cool this engine? If anyones selling a reco'd radiator that would suit im very keen on it cheers ALex
Gaz
After so many cooling probs ive had with the 2l in my escort I can tell all. 1300 escort rad will prob not do it round town. The 1600 one will however as its the same size as the cortina items. Electric fan wise I wouldnt waste ya time. Mine ran cooler with the fan on engine (non-viscous) and a shroud. If mk1 youull need to cut the front bonet support out to fit a decent size fan in hard against the rad. If ya do go with an electric use the supercheap ones, they have the biggest current draw of most out there so will be the best. Can have a threecore made up from a 1600 escort or cortina rad for $400. this is a good price I feel and still bolts straight in. This is what ive done. davidian
if you can find a 1600 one use it with a non-viscous fan. i hate the viscous shitters. or leve the visc and put a electric fan on the front of the radiator with a switch in case you need to use it. you can generally pillage them from pick a part
htwn-escort-boy
so if you run a standard 2 ltre escort radiator, it should be mint? with an extra fan or sumthing?
Gaz
so if you run a standard 2 ltre escort radiator, it should be mint? with an extra fan or sumthing? Whyat doya mean by a standard 2l escort radiator? RS200? Im unsudre what they are, Basically a 1600 escort radiator, a cortina mk3+ radiator, a capri radiator or a transit radiator will cool a stock 2l cortina engine in an escort. The easiest bolt in is the escort 1600 radiator.

kyteler
Make sure you've got a shroud, people seem to miss out the shroud and then wonder why their car overheats or runs really hot. You'll probably find that with a shroud your standard radiator will do. Methz, there was a MkII 2.0 Ghia, it would not necessarily have to be a RS2000 that it could come from. tortron
shroud increases the fans pushing power by like 70 percent
Gaz
Im pretty sure they just ran the 1600 radiator.. And yuh, shrouds increase heaps of cooling. As said above id go shroud with standard fan over electric.
Raizer
The mk2 2L Ghia and the rest of the Aussie built mk2 2Ls should have a RS2000 spec rad (Aussie RS2k, not quite the same as the English/German RS) i think there basically mk3/4/5 Cortina cores
htwn-escort-boy
ohh sweet, yeah the radiator came wit a shroud, so if thats gonna work ill be stoked az cause i wont have to pay more for an electic one, and less wiring, cheers guys

Raizer
I did it a few years ago, but im pretty sure i used the Tina hose's, i know i had to cut a bit off them cause the Bluebird rad's pipes don't have the right angle bend like the Tinas (i may have used other hoses though)
Jonny
So my 1600 mk3 Rad should cool the 2L that just went in?

J2Racing
If you do go electric remember not to cover more than 2/3 of the rad. You still need free air flow for open road driving. Fans only work up to about 60 km
