I found the ratio's in the W55 are quite long, my friend had one in his turbo celica with the 3T-GTEU and also he had one in his celica/supra with the 1G-GEU. First gear will go about 80 or so second will go about 120 or so third goes about 160 or so and fourth goes off the clock. You just have to go to budget and look around, they have them, trust me. But I've already spoken to the owner a few times and its always the same answer.. he had a big chat to me on the phone today about how he used to get W* boxes in all the time, he used to send them up to the nth island because they didn't have many. But now he wishes he'd kept them cos heaps of people come asking. So I'd go over there, it's on the other side of the city to me. And he would say what are you looking for and I'd say, a W57 gearbox and he'd say, didn't you ring up yesterday? ..I don't have any. I even mentioned that Tung reckons there's 10 or so in there and he laughed his head off and said 'thats bollocks.' So yeah, I could go see for mysef. A guy at my mates work rang up to see if he had a chassis rail for a KE25, he said "nah we don't have one". But when Ben and I went down there for cortina bits, I was like, "hey theres a whole car here." Then Ben said "I think he tells people he doesn't have a part because its easier". So basiccally you will probably have to go down there and ask where the toyotas are, go have a look, take it out and say "yeah I'll have this" Odd business practice aye? AE25 Posted November 5, 2005 Share Posted November 5, 2005 most diesels have a w59 or w51 with a low ratio first gear im running a w55 behind a 3tgte and it not so bad with a 3.9 diff but too tall for the other end of the 1/4 if i want full rev's in fourth. maybe good ratio if i were running 12's or 13's t50's and w55 arent too dissimilar in ratio.. when people refer to a 'celica box' they should also mention whether it steel or alloy case as w50 and t50 are mostly considered celica boxs even tho they come in just about every other rwd toy in the 70's Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
RT Posted November 6, 2005 Author Share Posted November 6, 2005 see my boost comes in strong at 3800rpm. Launching in first is crap atm with a 3.65 1st ratio with a 3.22 diff. I can hardly reach 30kmph before boosting in 1st. I want a W57 with a 3.28 1st so I can get up to 40kmph and chop 2nd right at boost hits at 3800rpm. It would be perfect.
