I've cleaned out carbs with bits of carbonized foam stuck in the floats.. the fuel vapor and the fumes just eat away at the foam and it will clog and make your car run like a sag of shit. You're better off running the standard filter box but remove the filter and run a pipe for cold air with a stocking over the end.
