Just for all the escort owners out there, could you please tell me where your car is rusting (thats if it has any). I seem to have alot in the spare wheel part and both the drivers and passengers floor, is this common?

theyre pretty common areas for any car.. ummm havent seen any of my escorts up closelately to think about it.. and theyre mostly devoid of rust atm.. check out my panelvan project for a escort with a bit of rust.. nothing compared to some but still quite a bit here and there...

Bro's old 1300GT had it front guards above headlights, bit in the sills, and had some in the floorpan when he sold it. wasnt too bad, he had a sport that had quite a bit in the rear arches/spare wheel well

My MK1 was perfectly rust free, not a spot on it..... bought for $300, sold for $250

Yea, rust in the spare wheel well is a bit of a problem on eskys. I think the water must get in through those vents just behind the rear windows, mine used to, but I sealed it all up and it seems to be sweet now.

And yea, bottom of the doors is another place too, and the firewall.

But if you take the bungs out, then that'll let water in like from roadspray n shit :?

Ive found that where the water actually collects isnt really around the bungs, its actually just infront of them where the wheelarch meets the boot floor, you know?

the only rust i found in my car was in the lil air vents behind the rear passengers door, other than that i havntg seen anything else. the spare wheel well is all good, sills are good and around the boot join is good.
