I've got a capri in Zoom mag that had a Clevo V8 a pretty simple twin turbo setup & carb that runs 8.7'sec 1/4s. 850bhp from memory.. atropine Posted May 25, 2005 Share Posted May 25, 2005 not 5000hp (i thought it was more like 8000..), high 3sec 1/4miles though plenty of good turbo v8s.. havent really seen much decent over 1200hp though.. fastest full bodied blown v8 doorslammer pulls in the 5.8s i believe.. R100 Posted May 26, 2005 Author Share Posted May 26, 2005 hey guys thanks for all your responses, ive decided to keep my 283 and rebuild it, ive been told be a V8 performance shop that i cannot stroke the 283 but i can put 60 tho oversize pistons to increase the displacement to just over 300 ci. Im going to disassemble my motor and freshin it up with some new pistons/rings and bearings, plane the head, high lift cam and some good extractors, this should do the job nicely, the engine is in a 1991 Mazda Luce so altho its a big car it wouldnt be as heavy as an impaler or what ever the 283 came from.
