Linesy
Good to see some interest in the old Lancers! I got one one sitting in the yard doin bugger all. Minilites & all. The 4G5x's and the 4G3x's share similar mountings I believe, The early Galants and Sigmas had em. 5 Speeds too. In fact the Lancers were sold in the states as dodge colts with the 4G54 ( 2.6l) according to the workshop manual I've got.
kyteler
lancers will take escorts you mean standard for standard? if not, huh, id like to see you try! Standard for Standard or Worked for Worked. If you do the same things to the Mitsi as you do to the Ford and compare them at each stage, my guess is the Mitsi would probably come out on top. Of course, rally them and chances are the 'scort would be the bee's knees as I'm not sure how well balanced the Mitsi is for rallying, although they DID rally the old Lancers. HOWEVER! If you guys wanna do a comparo, it would make for entertaining watching!

You can't use the words "shitty lookin" & "deep dish" in the same sentence man!! What kind of Enkei's are they? size? 4 spoke? Multispoke? 2 piece? Got a picture? Snoozin
The Lancers were not so much a fast rally car as a tough one. They won the Safari 4 times I think, with the old round headlight shape one (dunno any codes.... fill me in if ya do!) and the EX2000 turbo was moderately successful in some cases, unfortunately it came at the dawn of Group B and turbo 4WD, so was really redundant, much like the Nissan 240RS (which in reality was quite the POS rally car.....) lowlancer
Yupp you got it son, won the Kenya Safari 4 times, absolutely caned the living hell outta all comers, including porsche rally spec cars. I would say if you modified the A73 lancer GSR 1600 as much as a 1600 escort engine, it would be a close race. But the mitsy would definately last alot longer

rxtoy
engine and gearbox are easy, mitsi used the same mounts for all the sirius/cyclone engines back then (1600 up, not sure about the 1200's) so everything should bolt straight in. not too sure about the driveshaft though, i know my 4g63t had a different yoke than the 1600 i had in it before that but i swapped the driveshaft and diff anyway. would be harder in your car cause i can't think of any other diffs that would fit into leaf spring mounts. pm me if you need any info, i've learnt a shitload about early mitsi's while doing my conversion. cheers Matt
